its funny how we all here things differently
Those tones you posted I would say are more on the bright side.
the Dokken and Thin Lizzy are the more classic High gain probably old Marshalls
a freidman BE would get ya that . Another one the Budda superdrive, A third power British dream with new glow mod
the Sinner and VH are more in the modern camp more like A Soldano.
Jet city .Peavey 6505 is more in that range ..
as other said strings, speakers make a huge effect as well
A Splawn Nitro is another option
I was going to say the same thing.. the Dokken and Thin Lizzy are brighter. Also a ton of those tones were boosted with OD's, treble boosters etc.. you are also trying to replicate a produced sound. What comes out the other end of the mic. Try listening and tuning more of your stuff by listening to what comes through your mic preamp.
In your MTS tone quest, have you tried any of Friedman's stuff? I know you tried the judge and didn't like it, but it honestly is one of the most organic and chewy of the MTS. I think it is time to ditch a lot of the modules like Cranky did and just go with amps. You could easily buy an old Marshall or modded marshall used in the classifieds after selling 5 of those salvation modules.Personally i think their price points are ridiculous and most of the time the tone is fizz city.I think people are blowing their loads over cool faceplates and the idea that you have the versatility with the preamps. The SLO I tried was nothing like the tone i had in my head or what i heard on clips elsewhere of real SLO's. So I moved it along. With a lot of MTS, the more the gain goes up, the fizz does too. That's why I roll with a friedman brahma and judge and just boost. For your cleans to sound good you'd need fender modules with 6L6's.. not EL34's.. Anyway why not consider our canadian solution to tons of tones in a box. I posted this a week or two back. Listen to the tones available on this Traynor:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zh46ofeQHGU Fender cleans, Marshall cut or chewiness. Even a boost built in... I think it sounds fantastic. Sell 80% of your MTS and then have fun with diff cabs/speakers, and a new amp or two.
