What Amp Do I Want?

As you can see in my sig I have several amps already, I have had many other amps in the past. I can get a reasonably acceptable sound/tone out of most amps(to my liking), but in the end they all seem to be missing something, or I can't dial out sounds/tones that I don't like.

Must be relatively available and reasonably priced. I'm not looking for a $5,000 head that I will never have the chance to see/demo prior to purchase.

My Ideal amp that I would want would have some fat/rich tones, organic, not compressed sounding. Not harsh sounding, no ice picks in the ears, no fizz/mud at the vast majority of volumes. Lots of chunk if needed. Heavy/dark metal distortion without being pushed anywhere close to max, and with precise note clarity.

Does this amp exist, what amp did i just describe to you?

Sounds like you just described the EVH Stealth.
I too owned a ton of amps. This bad boy does it all.

Have you tried any of the Fryette stuff? The UltraLead is awesome. Deliverance 120 is one of the most punishing amps I've owned. From moderate classic tones to pure balls out aggression. You could go full bore and try a Diezel VH4 or KSR/Rhodes Colossus

I know it's hard to tell from sound clips, but there is not many out there for this amp. I haven't seen one in person yet either.

Never seen or played any VHT/Fryette, any Diezel etc, we don't have stores with that high end stuff around here. Engl, Orange, Blackstar, Marshall, Line 6, Peavey, Fender, all the regular stuff

Shit! We don't either. Sometimes you gotta take a leap of faith and rely on a good return policy.

I saw a Marshall JVM410H at a local store for a decent price. The only Marshall I've ever played was one of those battery powere micro stacks lol.

Updated the original post. Amp needs to be readily available, not something thats a super high end botique amp. Possibly even sending off one of my heads to align with my specs would be a good consideration.

Have you ever thought of the Peavey 6534+? I have one and it is close to what you are describing and it is a super inexpensive amp. I'm not implying this cause I have one for sale, seriously. I love this thing but I have a lot of amps and my BE100 in JBE mode covers that tone almost dead on, so that's saying a lot about the peavey.

All 3 channels are killer, the cleans are gorgeous on this thing, very clear and rich. The crunch kills on Marshall type tones. And the lead channel well, that one is easy to figure out. All this with clarity and a nice EL34 mid roar. Very pleasing tones.

Go try it out if you can, you'll be surprised.

Chris

I agree with this, I bought mine without playing it and it is awesome.

This^^^^^. I bought my VH4 on a leap of faith and great leap it was  !

Just got back from one of my local stores. Got to play a a Marshall JVM410H, it has a sound very much like what I am looking for. Tons of gain, good cleans, chunky, good for rock or metal, not harsh or fizzy at reasonable volumes, sounds good when played at low volumes, very organic sounding not computerized or compressed sounding at all, great note clarity at all gain levels etc. tried it with emgs and a few factory pickup guitars, all sounded good. Played it through an orange 2x12 & Ibanez v30 loaded 4x12, both sounded really good.

My one complaint:
This head had a lot of buzz & feeds back very easily. I know that can be fixed with a gate, but none of my other amps are like this. Not even my crate, to me that says a lot. Also makes me wonder why they couldn't figure that out, or if by doing so maybe the amp loses something?

The Satriani JVM has a built in noise gate. May just be a noisy preamp tube.

Yeah I noticed that, this is the only jvm for sale locally, so I'm limited. The price is $999 which is pretty decent. They offer a 3 day return policy as well. I still tried to low ball em lol. There was one other one at a store locally, but it sold already.

Yeah, get a satch if you can...if you like Marshall tones.

Personally, I'd say take a leap and jump on an ultralead. It will make you a better player.

Lol, I think just trying to learn something new would make me a better player. I'm in a muscle memory rut that's for sure.
