cannibal corpse uses dual rectos. there is one on GC website for 769 dollars. seems like a pretty good deal
I thought Pat used Triple Rectos with a Keeley modded MT-2, but either way, that's a good deal on a dual.[/quote]

No MT-2, I know Pat, I live a few miles from him and I've seen his rig, all He uses is a mesa straight oversized cab with EVM 200w speakers and a 2 ch dual recto. I personally know him and he is a cool guy, He uses Engls for leads and, just straight into a recto...

What speakers are you using with the VH140C? They love vintage 30's.

Other amps I would consider would be (in no order)

XXX
DSL
5150/5152
Peavey Ultra/+
Mark III
Vader with Eminence Legends. I replaced a Mesa Dual Recto cabinet with Vintage 30s and the Eminence sounds better, IMO.

I'm not boosting with an HM-2 anymore, so perhaps Vintage 30s will react differently now.

I could've sworn I've seen pics of his rig from some tour where he played Keeley MT-2/Triple Rectos, but perhaps they were riders for the tour or something. He does seem like a straight-in kinda guy, but an unboosted Recto is a surprise. Thanks!

And btw, a Peavey ultra plus is a great amp for the money. I have one and its awesome, they are about the same price as a 5150. but its very dark. great for metal.

The Peavey Ultra/+ can cover either the crunchy thrashy metal using either the low input and boost or the high input in regular crunch mode, or you can get a thick compressed gain in ultra mode. Really a cool amp that you should be able to come by for around $300.

What about that Line6 amp that rareguitar (Brad) was spewing about not that long ago..?? I may be out of whack mentioning it, but it's my suggestion for the sake of this thread and thought, why not??

Peace,
V.

That was a joke   He was really talking about his Marsha. How about a MarkIII??? :dunno: They're killer amps.

Phew... Although I never saw the thread get to the "this is a joke" part, I am kinda relieved to know it was a joke.

I would actually be interested to hear a JCA100H (with tons of gain) and an EQ voiced for dark/punishing metal. I wonder if that would get there...
