What are some metal pickups that are not super output??

A good question: what's a benchmark for you to not be higher or highest output? Is the JB in that category, or more the X2N? As someone already mentioned, you can do metal with pickups that have PAF or hot PAF levels of output given the gain on a lot of today's amps, and that may give you more clarity than a hotter bucker.

WCR ice-bucker, which is based on a godwood but tighter and punchier.
+1 Really nice pickup. I dig mine a lot.

How can anybody say X2N when the OP asked "What are some metal pickups that are not super output??"...is there a higher output passive made??? :loco:

Anderson H2+ is my absolute favorite. The Screamin' Demon works well in certain guitars, not so much in others. The Duncan '78 is a great choice, as is the Custom 5.

because he said suited for metal, and moderate+ outout.

with what he uses now, it will be right in between what he's looking for. notice it is not at the TOP of my list, and i also said it was the highest output of them all.

seems like i covered all of the bases, no need to seem like it was not logical

Clips of this are really rad, is this a higher output though??

12.1 I believe. Relatively low compared to most other metal pick up offerings.

Resistance DOES NOT equal output. It can be a decent gauge a good bit of the time but it is not a definitive guide.

I'll use Dimarzio for an example since they provide actual output in their specs.

Air Zone (considered medium output): 17.49K 323 millivolts output
X2N (one of the highest output passives ever made): 15.83K 510 millivolts output

You can't rely on DC resistance as a measurement of actual output.
