What are the BEST hyped pieces of gear you have owned?

But anyhoo, the first thing that comes to mind for me is the Eventide H3000. Lots of hype from just about anyone running old school guitar racks or outboard studio gear, and also lots of money these days, but I basically haven´t turned mine off since 2012 and probably won´t either.

For me, definitely the H3000, and I'll add the 2290 and PCM70.

For amps, the Mesa Studio Pre, XTC 101B, the JMP 2203, Herbert, and more recently, the Friedman Jose.

For guitars, LP R0. Very hyped, very expensive, and very much worth it.

Pedals, the EH DDM and original Electric Mistress.

Though I sold it, the Tom Anderson Drop Top I had absolutely lived up to the hype.
Any Griffin Analog pedal. Wayne's builds are top tier IMO.
WCR/Wagner Goodwood Pickups.
Wolfetone's Meaner P90.
My Bogner OS 2X12. I can't speak enough about how much I love that cabinet.
man, the bogner OS 2x12 is legit. Not really hyped much but the best cab I own by a mile. Sounds good with almost any head. Mine's an open back with a lead 80 and a V30

EBMM Sterling LUKE. Super versitile & ton of features for the price. Excellent guitar.

You know, I had the 2290 twice but never really got along with it. Love the PCM70, though, so I probably just go for the thicker delays.

Fryette PS IIA for an all around multi-tool in the studio or live.
R9 for a guitar; most are actually that good.
Hot take of the day: Tone King Imperial MK II is the best low/mid gain amp i have ever played...

1. Greenbacks - Just my favorite speaker
2. 1972 Marshall 1987 - Epic tones, more gain than the next amp on my list
3. 1981 4104 Marshall - That 800 tone. Good even at lower volumes if you adjust the tone controls.
4. 1982 Mesa Mark IIB Coliseum loop mod - Tone and low end of the Gods. No such thing as non eviction volume.
5. 2025 Mesa Mark VII - My favorite overall amp I've ever had. The 80's rock tone in VII mode are ridiculously good and the cleans and IIC+ mode are amazing as well.
6. Cameron Mod Sovtek Mig - bought used for cheap, sold because I was purging gear to buy my house and fear of anything going wrong and getting it fixed with the goop over everything.
7. Engl Artist - what the Friedman BE would sound like if less polite.

I suppose the ´72 1987 might be one of those transitionals with both the V2A bypass cap and less negative feedback, but in general I haven´t found the master amps to have any more usable gain than the non-masters. They just get there at slightly lower volume.

Is the JB hype something recent? Feels like I´ve spent the last 25 years mostly reading threads about people not liking it 😄

The JB was very much the standard medium-high output pickup to put in guitars - especially super strats - for years as either an upgrade or the top-end ones from the factory. Those of us who never really liked it that much complained about liking others better, but mostly against the hype that surrounded it, but this isn't the thread to talk about why some of us don't like it.....but yeah, definitely a very hyped pickup over the years.

'96 Mesa Tremoverb. For years I thought my first quality tube amp would be a Mesa Boogie Mk IV. When I could finely afford one I went shopping, and they had a Triple Rectifier in the store and I was floored. It was so much easier to dial in, and sounded huge. I had already had the seed of wanting a Tremoverb planted from the stellar review in Guitar Player Magazine, and playing the Triple sold me. I ordered a new Tremoverb through the store that day. While it's not for all, I can tell you all the dudes out there who say it may be Mesa's best Dual Rectifier ever are not wrong.

P90's. The magic is real.

EVM12L's are the best speakers ever made for metal.

Analog Man Sun Face NKT275 White Dot. Into a hard working quad of EL34's it's Jimi in a box.

Wizards, ESPs, huge transformers.
Huge transformers? What about smaller, but more efficient transformers that are made with steel laminations instead of iron? The ones Schumacher made for Mesa starting in the mid 80's. They put out the specs...
