Besides the speakers :D

I seem to recall the control layout being different....but can't remember.

Thanks.

The JC 120 is 2 channel with independent EQ's, 1 channel dry the 2nd channel reverb, chorus ect..
The head if I remember correctly is just the 2nd channel with the reverb,chorus,vibrato..

The head is a single channel with a 4-band EQ -- in contrast to the combo's dual channels and 3-band EQ.

pic of the head in one of my rigs, sounded just like the combo to me and featured the side of a JC120 you would actually use.

I thought the stereo return is what made the JC-120 a great amp, at least for me, pedal up front, stereo Efx return sounded great.

fwiw,

"sub in" on the head is a stereo input(I think) to the power amp, yet it still goes through the reverb and chorus.

works great as an "fx return" type input with full featured preamps like the Fish or M4.

It was a great (clean) amp before it had a loop. I used to have an early one that had no loop IIRC. It was stolen many years ago. The one I have now has a loop though.

I think both channels on the combo are the same, mirror copies. The real joy was when you kicked in that stereo chorus, very lush. This amp had its faults for me, but I enjoyed running a good pedal out front and stereo return, very spacious.
