I'm from Upstate NY. I got a small room w 4 guitars on wall hangers. Never had issues before, but this cold dry weather is bad this year! I can feel the fret ends peeking out from the wood. Looking to purchase a room humidifier. What do you recommend?

Just got one of these this year. I’m an idiot for waiting so long to do this. Best $60 I’ve spent in a long time. Aside from keeping guitars happy, the sound of loud amps is not so harsh like it typically is in the dry winter. Has a humidistat so it won’t overdo it. Keep it at 45. I’m amazed by how often I’m filling the tank up - didn’t realize it got THAT dry here during the winter - every few days. Don’t mind at all though cause my guitars are happy and rig sounds great.

Literally just plugged mine in. Guitars seem to go a little flat this time of year

Just ordered a Levoit Superior 6000s evaporative humidifier. It's for a whole house and has a 6 gallon capacity. It's on casters and comes with a fill hose so it should be easy to move over to the sink and fill. We'll see. It should be here next week.

Whatever you get, make sure it's an evaporative one with a replaceable filter. I have a Honeywell that actively measures room humidity and adjusts appropriately, but any quality evaporative with a filter you replace once a month should be solid. Expect to clean the entire thing regularly. You can add little tablets and use distilled water to help lengthen the time between cleanings. Last thing you want is pink mold everywhere.

I've got various VeSync humidifiers across my house (guitars, kids, etc). Went with that brand since various blogs rated them highly and I like the smart features that work with Google Home.

I will caution, don't expect any small unit like these to fill the entire room. Expect it to do like half the rated SQFT effectively.

Currently using 11 inches of snow for humidity.

I live in the high desert so apparently my tone sounds harsh all the time!

All I do is mineral oil my dark wood fingerboards at every string change. No issues otherwise.
