Looking for something medium output...most likely A5 but I'm open to an A2. My first choice is a Duncan Custom 5...any other opinions?

Hi Paige. My Nuno N4 and Strat are Ash. Don't know if you remember my trans purple Schecter CET Custom Shop quilt top but it was also ash. Ash has some soft mids anda really nice top end. I would search the EQ charts of each pickup and key in on the ones with a strong midrange. Fender's Custom Shop recently came out wih the new CS Deluxe models(ash bodies). They chose the SD Custom Custom for this model. Rob Chappers seemed to really like the sound in his video review of the CS Deluxe FWIW.

Cutom Custom is where I was going too. Also, the Dimarzio Tone Zone works well with brighter woods.

Got the Tone Zone S in my Strat and I don't even think about replacing it.

Great info...thanks brother! The EVH Frankenstein has an A2 like the CC...maybe I should go that route.

My first thought after reading the thread title

I'm enjoying my BBQ bucker in my ash strat (rosewood board; blasphemy, I know!). Punchy, balanced, and clear

for ash body...SD Custom Custom (alnico2)...
i had one in an ash body w/quilt maple top + maple neck w/ebony fretboard (yup...this strat was bright city...hence why i went with the CC)

Custom5 IMO suits all mahogany better (alnico V)

or you could just swap magnets and experiment.
