What cab choice for the VH4S? 1x15, 1x12?

So I have a little dilemma here. I have a 1x12 OS Avatar loaded with EVM12L. I either have to sell this cab & get a 2x12 & run it in stereo or get another 1x12 or 1x15. I was wondering if anyone has experience with 1x15s or SB112 NEO from Avatar. Just to avoid any confusion, I'm not luggin around 4x12s, nor my 2x12s, there is siply no justification to do so, so please lets keep away comment like how 4x12s rock. I'm seriously considering either a 1x15 or a front loaded 1x12 like SB112 NEO or Mesa Boogie Thiele with a high wattage speaker to run on the other side. I could hook these up to my bass rig too when I feel it's necessary.

BTW, on a separate subject, is there such a thing as an extension speaker cable?

Grab a couple Bogner cubes to put a little separation on stage. You won't regret it. I hear they are the WET cab of choice for some reason. You already have a Bogner OS 212 don't you? Stereo out of a single 2x12 seems a bit of a waste, but may be OK.

Never heard of of an extension cable. Speaker cable is speaker cable.

The absolute beast of a rig for you would be the Herbie right down the middle DRY through its own 2x12 and the VH4S wet on both sides through individual 1x12's. At least I didn't say it.... :D

IMO Mesa Thiele 1x12" EV are the most awesome 1x12" cabs out there.

+2 on the Mesa Thiele cab... Don't run exstention cables on your rig  just spend the extra bucks and get longer cables. Unless your playing a huge stage you really don't need to go further then 3-5 feet between the two single cabs anyway.

It's really the attached speaker cable in my bass combo which is too short & I wanna try it using an extension cable. So it's not like I'm too cheap to get a longer cable. I like the Mesa Thiele too. :)

I use a female/female coupler similar to this, except it's a Planet Waves. But I've never used one with speaker cables, just instrument. Shouldn't be an issue though.

Can someone confirm that it's safe to use this with speaker cables?

You see, at full blast a 100 Watt amp hooked to 4 Ohm will blow out 5 Ampêre current.
Now tell me that you would use a tiny adaptor for 5A in your house? No? Well, me neither. I'd get some good LS-wire, some Neutriks and solder the cable myself.
If you just play at bedroom volumes - no prob.

I use to do this - and as usual you are dead on.

At the very least, like Steve said, cubes spread apart. After all that is the whole point of a stereo amp.

I just don't think guitar needs the extended frequency range of a 15 - not sure that would cut well and seems like you would be stepping all over your bassist. But would be cool to play around with.

And 4x12s do rock...

Unfortunately I almost always play insanely loud. Damn you, people!! There is no easy way to get away with you.

Ohh, I have had my share of Herbert/VH4 wet/dry rig experience, you're not gonna surprise me with that. I have had periods I ran even 3rd amp with those 2.

I'm not worried about cutting well, that's not a problem for me, I already step all over everybody with a single EVM12L. Looks like I'm gonna get a Thiele again.

:gethim: :D

I used to own a Thiele, and it was the sickest 1x12" I`ve tried. I hooked it up to a combo, and the two 12" speakers sounded like a half stack :D

A bubby of mine has one - and a vintage Marshall cab (73 or so). Well, the 1x12" blows the Marshall cab almost away, but def. sounds as full. I didn't want to believe it, but its true.

So does my Avatar 1x12. The Thiele has a tighter low end due to it's sturdy cabinet & front loaded design.

It's really the EVM12L that makes these cabs amazing, there is a reason I use these speakers almost exclusively.
