If it was the frequency response you didn't like, try an EVM12S or a Force 12. They don't have the "scooped" mids of the 12L.

The lead guitarist for this band (the one in front) is playing EVM12S Pro-Lines (the 300W model) in a Traynor YCV80 2x12 open-back combo that's been converted to a stand-alone extension cab with a modded Peavey VK100 going into it and an EQ pedal set to a less thin TS-style frequency response out front. They have two other videos on the channel with him using the same rig. The EVM's were reconed by Speaker Repair Pros in Garden Grove, CA.
