Bump...

I am curious too. I just got some TAD 6L6's, both versions to give a spin. Been using both SED EL34's and SED 6L6's....

I've never played them, but a local amp tech/builder in town swears by them. He says they sound good and are one of the most realible EL34's he has ran across. He also said for an EL34 they are excellent for clean tones and have a slight 6L6 vibe to the tone.

I'll be interested in hearing what your findings are because I was considering giving them a shot.

meh!

far as i know they're just putting thier label on deferent manufactures tubes, kindda like Groove tubes does.

i'd rather buy from Willie at NBS or Doug's Tubes, and get manufacturer labeled tubes.

They're chinese EL34B's, however they do test them very well.

Where do they get their 6L6s from? They seem pretty unique on those at least....and it sounds pretty different from other 6L6s too...

I think for their 2 TAD 6L6's they designed them and then had them contract built at one of the China plants. I could be wrong, its hard to figure out exactly what you are getting in the tube world...

Ummm...

Doug is nice and all but he is merely a retailer, he does not design tubes, he just tests them on a Maxi-Matcher or VTV and sells them.

TAD designs many of their own tubes and has them made at plants in China that have been making tubes for a very long time. Chinese tubes have a come a very long way in the last few years and some are currently among the best made. TAD's testing might be the industry's best. I have used TADs for a while and the matching is better than any I have ever gotten and I have shopped at Doug's, KCA, Tube Depot, etc. Also, the noise and microphony tests for preamp tubes is amazing. So, while they might be a little like GT (which is owned by Fender and now sucks worse than they ever did), their products are better and their matching/testing is way up there if not the best.

their EL34's are the same shuguangs that Ruby sells as EL34B-STR

They only sell chinese JJ are short plate like chinese the getters are different but you are right I think..
The last time I purchased them they didnt have the new ecc83 version or theyre Mullard style 7025..
I quit buying them cuz Lee Jackson told me that They were getting the shady batches of all the Jap 12ax7s and rebranding them..The 12ax7c a and B stock..Itwas a year and ahalf or so ago...Must be turning into groove tubes...

Some may be but the majority are not.

Edit: Just did some research and only one 12AX7/ECC83 is a JJ. They also sell the JJ ECC803. I will say again that while they do rebrand some tubes, a lot of them are their own designs made for them in China. Their testing and matching is superior to any tube company that I have ever used. Do not compare them to Groove Tubes. No comparison, TAD is much better.
