What cars do you guys use to haul your gear to a gig?

When we were strictly an original band, we had a big old van that fit all our gear and us (4x12s of course!!!) and we'd travel to and from shows together.

Now that we're just doing covers in bars, we're older, less cool and we all show up separately. I get all my gear (2 guitars, 2 stands, amp head of the night, Mesa/Marshall or GFlex 2-12 cab, 2 space rack unit with wireless and FX, bag of cables, wah and other goodies, Crate Powerblock backup) easily in my relatively small BMW 328 sedan. I could probably get one of my 4x12s in the back seat, but things would get tight. I used to drive VW GTIs...I could a ton of stuff in those cars.

I went a bought a Scion Xb, the old toaster looking one, and it fits so much and gets 30 mpg. I would usually put 2 JBL 125 2x15 pa cabs, 4x12 cab; 2 heads, 3 guitars, skb stage 5 pedalboard, 3 guitar stands, 3 "pelican" gun cases( mics and cables), and an Allen Heath Mixwizard 16:2. I am gonna run this car until it dies. It's awesome. After all that gear, the passenger seat is still open.

PT Cruiser. Back seat folds up or comes completely out leaving a nice flat floor. Suprising amount of room in these.

Oh yeah the front seat folds down too if you need the space.

Same guy that designed the PT also desing the Chevy HHR. Same size and features if you have to have a Chevy and can't stomach a Chrysler.

That's what I use. It's great all around. Easily fits 2 4x12s, 2 amp heads, pedal board and 2 guitars. 30mpg rocks too.

My old drummer fit his entire kit plus a small PA in an HHR...plus it got 30+ mpg...great musicians ride without a doubt.

Ford Escape. Can get 2 4x12 cabs and 2 heads along with my pedalboard, 4-5 guitars, guitar stand, fan and mic stand. Most of the time I bring my 2 2x12 cabs though.

holy shit that all fits in a ford escape???

Yes, as long as I lay the back seats down and stand the cabs up. I could actually fit both 4x12's and both 2x12's at the same time if I put the two heads on top of the 2x12's but I would never have a need for 2 4x12's and 2 2x12's. I have a 96' 911 Carrera that I took to practice for the first time a few weeks ago. Thought it would work since I keep a 4x12 cab at rehearsal. Just needed to bring 3 guitars, EVH 5150 III head and my pedal board. Barely got it all in there. Won't be doing it again.

I haul my own gear and usually use a 2010 Honda Pilot with the back seats folded-down.

My drummer has a 1/2 Chevy with a topper. That gets about 90% of our crap to the show.

We fit all our backline and the small PA we have plus some lights into a 1982 MB 508D. It's registered for 7 ppl as well, so the five of us and our soundman/driver fit in perfectly as well. Gets the job done!

One of these but depending on the gig I only take minimal gear...EVH 50w, 1x12, small pedal board and one guitar:

Indeed they do! And libs seem to hate 'em, so that's another plus.

Before the Pilot I usually hauled my gear in either my wife's 2006 CRV or our '97 Suburban (sold both when we bought the Pilot). When I've got to haul a LOT of gear, then I use my '04 Tundra pickup. But I don't have a shell for it, so it's got to be dry outside.

Btw... I used to haul my gear to gigs in my TINY '02 Hyundai Elantra. So a guy can stuff a lot of things into a very small space when he's got no other options.

I hear ya, I used to haul a 4x12, amp head, two guitar cases & a pedal/cable/supply box in my '99 Toyota Tercel. Great little car! But I sold it when my daughter was born...the Pilot is great for everyday use, on the highway & camping. Love it.

I always haul my own stuff.

I've always owned a Mustang.

I've always been able to stuff,

two 2x12 cabs
two guitars
Amp head
4 space rack
backpack
metal case

No Girlfriend! lol... unless I only take one cab.

The secret is the back seats fold down.

used to do a mustang. HATED it. Broke a lot of stuff getting a 4x12 in there.

1964 Pontiac Bonneville. The trunk will hold a 4x12, Heartbreaker head, 3 floor monitors, 4 guitars, pedalboard, gig bag and assorted mic stands.
