I love the sound he gets on Gretchen Goes To Nebraska. I'm pretty sure he used an Alesis Midiverb. What pedal can get me close to that?

Well the midi verb patch 64 I believe it the one I used when I was working with Ty. They can be had for like $50!

How is the midiverb? I've read that it's very noisy.

Ya it is what it is. Some kind of noise suppression might help. That is why Ty ditched it long ago!

Are there any other pedals that can get close to that sound?

He used the line 6 chorus ever since he dumped the midi verb. Now he is using the Axe Fx

I have a Midiverb III and never really noticed it being overly noisy. Maybe in a precise recording scenario, but certainly not for gigging. I've kept it all these years because it has some really great sounding, usable chorus patches - at least to my ears. Here comes the obligatory YMMV disclaimer ;)

What amp are you running it with? Do you use midi to control it? Sorry, I'm new to this rack effect stuff.

Sorry for the delay in responding - I didn't flag this thread for email notification
In the past, I used it in a small rack setup with a Digitech GSP-21 and a Peavey Classic 60 power amp. I didn't use MIDI for any continuous controller functions, but I used it to switch patches. When I would select a preset on the GSP, it would send a message to the Midiverb to change to the appropriate patch.

I now have it in my new rack rig. I plan to control it via MIDI (Ground Control Pro) and switch it in/out of the chain using my GCX Switcher.

Hope this helps... :)

Are there any pedals that can get close to that sound? Particularly, with overdrive? I realize a lot of chorus pedals don't work well with overdriven sounds.
