Just trying to get an idea on what I can expect to pay...
Obviously they will be pricey, just trying to see if there is LUCK deals out there.

Also when spending such a hugh amount (huge for me) it would be nice to find one locally, but thats gonna be super tuff :(

Who wants to trade a Diezel head for my PRS custom 24? :D

2 things:

1. They ain't cheap, and for good reason.
2. You don't see "modded" Diezels, and for good reason.

That aside, there's a cat on this sub-forum a few posts down selling a minty Herbert. Damn fine.

i paid 2800 for my mint herbert. ive seen them at 2400 but they werent close to mint...... mine doesnt have a scratch on it.

Depends a lot what side of the globe you are.

Diezels are not a bad investments though as they serve you well and they also keep their value well if you need to let it go upon some kind of force majeure (and soon the regret will hit you like a sledgehammer).

I paid 2950 for my herbert, it was in mint condition and only a little over year old when i got it.

I payed $3050 shipped from San Francisco Guitar Center for my Herbert that is 100% mint and was 1 year old. This was back in 2009, and 3 grand was the norm for a Herb or VH4. Now high 2's seem to be the common number.

I'll just say I got a great deal on my Herbert and passed on the savings when I decided to keep the VH4. I'm sort of a sucker like that but I believe in paying it forward when you can. Also, my Herbert was NOT mint condition, but still played and sounded great -- just didn't work in my current band; VH4 works MUCH better.

Non-mint can be had for around $2500 but you gotta be quick on the trigger and have the cash ready.

I've bought new and used. Sold a pretty much mint Herbert for 2400.00. Bought a 50W Einstein for 1700.00, sold a Schmidt for 2700.00. It all depends on luck really, seen some nice amps go for pretty cheap.

I've bought and sold Diezel's mainly because of my change in tastes. Funny thing is that I end up back with a Diezel. I just bought an AXE FX II back in June, played around with it until a week ago, and sold it on eBay. First time i've went to solid state, was using a VHT 2100 Classic and a VHT 2150 poweramp, it still.... didn't sound the same, in my ears. I sold my silverface VH4 in January to thin out my herd, thinking I was going to use the AXE FX II for everything, now i'm back to bi-amping my Diezels, and bought a Hagen a couple of hours ago to replace my sold VH4. Sorry for the rant, lol.

Actually picked up the Hagen for 3100.00, not too shabby, can't wait to try this thing out!

Did you snag that one on eBay that was in Canada? I E-mailed the guy but he didn't have any feedback and only 1 picture of the amp... made me nervous...

You bet, eBay's policy with new sellers is pretty strict, so if I get a box of bricks, or something other than my amp, im sure it will work out in my favor. Hopefully, lol.

Talking with the guy, he gave me both of his personal numbers, told me where he bought it from, and gave a little history as to why he's selling it, etc. I think he's legit, haven't been burned on eBay yet, knock on wood

No! That makes you a good man! :)

I too prefer the VH4 ... I live in VH4's Channel 3 and this channel is worth at least 80% of what I paid Race since nothing else sounds like it in that space. I would buy another VH4 since mine is always on loan.

$2500 for a VH4?? Wow not to bad at all! Gives me the ambition to save for one...kinda hard for me with having a mortgage, and 3 big house projects at once :(

I am going to list my 1995 PRS Custom 24 on here to help fund the Diezel once I have 50 posts.

I keep running back and forth on the VH4 and Marshall Superlead! I want the VH4 more than anything, but the Marshall is something I could afford sooner! THe thing is I am not in a band and I don't plan on it, I just enjoy playing Tool covers at home. But I am a freak and want the best! VH4!!

Who wants to trade for a PRS?? :)

:) Nice avatar!
I may just get a crappy part time job nights and weekends just to save up 3k! hahahahahaha

I paid $2200 for my used Herbert. It was about 2 years old but still in awesome condition. I feel very fortunate to have it, at first I was going to buy the new Mesa Boogie V. But then a friend of mine offerd to sell me his Herbert.

And to the person who mentioned that Diezels aren't being modded, that is an incorrect statement. I have seen others mod the Herbert's -/+ switch so it could be foot pedal controllable. Also I know that wilder amplification is building a new chip for the Herbert for midi CC's.

Pretty sure he definitely meant you don't see any Diezels being modded to change the SOUND of them... because it's not necessary...

thats exactly what he meant. but you know rig-talk... everyone has puts everything you say under a microscope and scrutinizes the piss out of it......

Oh the Herbert paid 2800 for i bought in January of this year. It's a 2007 model. Little old but is in 100% mint condition. Guy bought it new and only used it in his room. Never did any gigs.

got my herbert from a local bro on craigslist for 2500 (i had bought a powerball from him 3 years earlier). dug the hell out of it. sold it to another local brother for 2500 to pass it on. was sad to see it go, but it stayed in the family.

i will eventually get another one. just wanted to have money ready in case something specific showed up soon. still waiting.... :aww:

I just picked up my Herbert from a fellow Rig-Talk member, paid $2800, and I've got to say it the best gear purchase I've made to date. I could put a guitar on my girlfriend, plug her in, and she'd sound good   .They're pricey but once you hear/play one in person, you understand why.
