I finally sold my 1987X to a local guy and he was really interested in the cab with greenbacks. They're UK made, not Chinese, the cab is a 2005 slant cab.

I originally didn't want to sell it, but the selling of this head is going to fund me picking up a Friedman, Soldano, or Bogner, and I'll need a sweet cab to go with it so it could definitely help.

I had a pair of those UK TV cabs I regret selling, but it helps that I got about $750 each for them. I could see more for the right buyer, they are fairy rare.

I had 2 TV cabs that I bought in the 90’s that I gigged for years. Loved them. Really sweet sounding.

I know nothing about how they changed over the years, but a solid cab that is def worth 6-7 hundred in the current market.

Either that or the 1960AV are my favorite Marshall cabs.

In my area (NJ/NY) I've never seen a 1960TV go for under $800. They don't pop up often and I'd easily pay $800-900 for one. I bought a 1960AX last year for $800 because it was one of the few Marshall cabs with UK Greenbacks.

I did a little digging on some used sites, took an average of ones that had sold recently, and it came out to $1135 or something around that. I told him I'd take $1100, pretty much the average of what they've sold for since I wasn't really wanting to sell it anyways. He read it but didn't respond. He may be more interested in getting a more affordable cab, which I can't blame him....but those Greenbacks sound so sweet.

Really stupid how much cabs cost. It’s like they’re secretly trying to end us using cabs altogether. I imagine new cab sales have to be way down with advent of Load/IR and in ear monitoring tech. I had one of the TV cabs in the late 90’s to go with a 1959 reissue I had. It looked great but I preferred regular sized cabs for the actual sound at the end of the day. Have never liked Mesa OS cabs either. The traditional is more focused and punchy, especially for Recto’s.

Agreed on the stupid prices cabs are going for these days.

Not long ago, before everyone went insane with Covid paranoia, I could hardly give away 4x12 cabinets.

I wish those days would return...there's a local guy with some 1960B cabs he's selling and a 1960BV, but can't justify his asking price.

I know it’s just wishful remembering but I sure miss the days of 2-400 dollar Marshall cabs and JMP and JCM800’s for 4-600. Those prices were steady for so long and then it just went nuts in the 2000’s once Marshall did their big price hike on new stuff.
It’s like Mesa MKIII’s were 5-800 for the longest time and MKIIB’s even cheaper. MKIV heads 8-1100. To pay high teens to 2K plus for any of those is just insanity to me

Years ago, back in the AOL days, I was a member of a chat room for guys with long hair. I was like 17'ish. It was chock full of hot ass cougars that loved 80s rock, which I just so happened to be a fan of. There was a member in there, at one point, selling a Reinhold Bogner modified JCM800 (or it may have been a JMP) for $600. Oh man, thooooose were the days. Too bad I was poor back then lol

It used to be where Marshall was the working man’s amp and if you needed one for a band or something, you could always scrape together enough, even with a little patience and get a 6 knobber, have rock glory tone and off you go. Now it’s some collector’s piece nightmare and even the amps from China etc need regular, younger working people people to save up or use credit to get. It’s a shame that British and U.S. made has become some upper middle class, wealthy person’s level of entry. I don’t begrudge the people on here who can afford this stuff. Just sad state of affairs on economics, that young folks trying to do bands and actually use this shit like it was meant to be used will never be able to afford it.

You can still score 1960a/b cabs for $400-500. The ones with the G12T-75 speakers. I personally hate those speakers, but the cabs are still somewhat affordable. I almost bought a really beat up one for $300 just because it looked cool. The Greenback ones are getting insane.

I do miss the days of $1100 Mark IVs. I remember, years ago, mailing Juggernaut 3 USPS money orders to buy his Mark IV. The limit at the time was $500 a piece. Gear deals were like the wild west before PayPal.
