i use a digitech bad monkey ... it is cheap but effective for what i need done. i set the volume at 10 and the gain at zero and adjust the high and low to taste ...

never really got along with boosts until the BBE Green Screamer  . Makes me want to look into different TS based pedals. For now, I like the Green Screamer WAY more than SD-1... still haven't tried the DS-1 and I have it sitting right here new in the box

Since I got my OD808 I'm never touching my SD-1 again LOL. I have a comparison clip of the two used as a clean boost.

First is bypassed, second is SD-1, third is OD808.

Yeah, the SD-1 didn't do much for me and sorta only used it as an experiment.

I dig my SD-1 :) One day i'll replace it with an OD808 but, right now....the SD-1 is just working for me :)

to tighten up the low end and smooth out everything the HBE power screamer
to loosen everything up and get that nice doomy THWWWUD outta my attack the wicked tools spellbinder

I use an RP1000 for reverbs and delays. I keep a Cool Cat Trans OD in the stomp loop for leeds being pushed with a Tone Press. I also keep a Cool Cat Drive and a MXR Micro Amp out front for other flavors. I only use the stomp loop alone or one or the other of the Drive and MXR. Almost never together. Pic for reference.

anybody use the xotic stuff?

or idk? i think everything else i can could have thought of has been mentioned,

regards,

I use two boosts, well three actually. One is a OCD in a loop for dirtier boost, and the 2nd is a FatBoost in a loop for a cleaner boost. Since my Liquid-Foot can do 20 CC commands per switch, I actually have one switch that turns the OCD on and also turns on a 3db preset level boost on my G-Major II. This gives me just the perfect amount of dirt & hair from the OCD, and also gives me a good 3db of clean line level to take the volume up a bit. It's great for when the sound man isn't paying attention. The switch for my FatBoost's loop does the same thing.

Mainly the Rocca linear boost (black pedal on the right) but the Rocca Bastard and this tube pre-amp that he just built me are killer too.

I used to have an Xotic BB+ but I sold it when I got my Suhr Koko Boost. I pretty much never turn the Koko Boost off, does a great job on clean and adds a little extra gain that my Black Pearl combo lacks. I also use it stacked with either the Riot or Shiba Drive too and use the mid-boost for my solo tone.

I mostly dont use them, but at times I will use a Keeley SD1, a Magic Box Rocket Fuel, or an OCD

What amp were you trying to boost the SD-1 with? IMHO with a Marshall based amp you can't go wrong with an SD-1, even the newer MIT ones. On the flipside, an OD808 is sexx with a Recto/5150.

A Marshall head lol. I just found the OD808 to be more balanced with less 'chop'. SD-1 was scratchy as well.

I use an EP booster, BB Preamp, TS808, TS9 and Bad Monkey. Like them all for what they do. I'm having trouble selling any of them...........

The BB is really flexible and sounds great. You can really gain up a clean channel or lower the BB gain and use it more like a boost. The EP booster is a great "leave on" pedal. Just makes the sound bigger or something. Very cool.

That darn Bad Monkey hangs with the 808 and TS9 in my opinion.

I love boost pedals!!

  Goes to show you how much I know! But in all seriousness, the OD808 should be smoother than an SD-1. I love the bite though of an SD-1 through my JVM's crunch modes.
