what do you think is the best all-around amp head?

not what amp has THE best cleans, or THE best high-gain tones, or THE most power, etc, but what amp achieves EVERYTHING as top notch as it gets - from a combination of sparkling cleans, to killer gain, to that kind of crunch/drive where you can hear every note in a full chord (not to mention the ability to adjust and shape each channel to create a multitude of sounds based on what you're looking to achieve), to being a champ in the studio AND on the road; which amp head does everything you want it to, and does it well enough so that you'd never need another one if you weren't such a gearhound?

price notwithstanding, though definite points for good values in today's world of boutique amp price gouging.

*note: try to stay mod-free, but if you must, go ahead and say it!*

pittbull ultra lead for me, thank you.

in fact, i'll take three helpings.

burp!!

(edit...$1600 used lately. i paid 1600, 1500, and 1550 for my three)

My Fortin Bones!! I'm still finding new tones in this thing!

5153 and herbert does it for me.
they arent the greatest for some people but im really happy with them. all of the channels are usable and they work great with my guitars.

Diezel Hagen for me!

This

Anyhow I think the majority of the "big" multi channel amps will appear (VH4, Road King/Roadster, Mark IV/V, XTC...), they are good all-rounders.

If money wasnt an option.....the Diezel VH4.
Does it all perfectly.

Bogner Ecstasy. Christopher Cross and country artists use them... AND rock guys... and metal guys.

I can't think of any other amp head that crosses musical genres as well.

Pete

Out of the box stock, Cameron Atomica. It may be single channel but you can dial in any tone you want with the amp.

For me, there is no single amp that does it all.

Yep :) Love me some Mark V and Roadster.

My CAA PT-100 does all of that for me...so versatile! Fender like cleans and breakup...marshall crunch and modern marshall highgain all in one package! so many tonal options

When I get more money coming in I plan on getting another Friedman amp and possibly a Surreal AKA or Egnater MOD.

I run a CAA PT-100 and a Bogner Ecstasy 101b live and can achieve world domination.
It will also cure constipation, once those amps are cranked it will blow the shit out of you.

Fryette Sig:X for sure. I haven't found anything it can't do...

I know there isn't any love around here for them, but I'd be remiss if I didn't give props to the Hughes & Kettner TriAmp MK II. That said, Splawn Quick Rod is still my, "go-to."
