They are all playin at the 2013 Amp Recording Fest. Ola is sending a track off his upcoming record and DIs of all the guitars. Andy is doing the same, there's the slightest chance he may be able to come out but he's not sure. Bruce is sending me a 1 minute DI of the most blazin shred. Now Bruce is working on coming out in person. Either way this is gonna be awesome. Some amazing guitarists and a good variety.

A little hijack.. Sorry. But what is considered THE best direct in box/signal path for reamping guitars? I'v experimented a bit with different DI's (Avalon, API 512c, Chandler little Devil and others.)

I now use a Radial JDV-Pre 500 into my RME. It sounds very crisp. Sometimes the DI on the Chandler Little Devil if I want more fatness and color.

We have the original Reamp and a Little Labs Redeye 3D. They both sound great, I think the Little Labs maybe be a hair cooler sounding. As far as DIs I usually go straight into the front end of a vintage API312. I have experimented a fair bit and I can get the DI/Reamp to sound virtually undetectible. I also did a big shootout at my buddies studio in LA and he has the Wagner MW1, that sounds great but again it sounded almost identical to the Redeye 3D. That Radial stuff is great, you should be good to go. I just ordered their long amp run boxes so I can put combos in my back room.

I'm pretty sure Bruce would clean the floor with most guys in the lead department so prob not a good idea to have them trade off licks! They should just all stick to their strengths. All are very good players, just diff types of players. Andy's got the hard rock/ country stuff down and bluesy side covered, let Bruce do the crazy shred stuff and Ola summon demons.

EDIT: just listened to more Andy and he can do it all too yikes. That shut me up :)

Yeah man Andy kills. He spent a day at the studio playing. It was unreal to watch him.

DI tracks are good for consistency, where the same parts are played through multiple amps. Now, in addition to these pre-planned tracks, how about another set of improvised, off the cuff tracks through each amp, where the amps feel dictates and inspires what is played ? Let the player play to each amp's strength. Good idea ?

it would be worth the price of admission just to watch bruce play.

i always liked his parts more than pauls in their early days!

Man, this is truly turning into something awesome....GOOD TIMES!!
