Just recently got a bass and want to build a bass board. I have a bunch of stuff here and have found that my Walrus Audio Kangra sounds gnarly with my bass.

What guitar pedals are you using on your bass rig?

Sansamp Bass Driver DI, it's a must.

Yep, bass driver is a must.

a bassballs, I would say as well

MXR M87, great comp

and the most important bass pedal: a simple blender like the boss LS2 or something

The only reliable way to not lose low end is to blend clean and dirty with bass

A plug for Griffin Analog, but any of his pedals that have that guitar/Bass switch on them have been killer on bass. The Chiron Deluxe brings the thunder, and the CE-MOD might be the best chorus I have run on bass.

I love the Bassballs, and I'm super stoked to get his take on that circuit. I can't comment until I get it, but I have had a Bassballs on every pedalboard I've had, even if it is the form of the Mooer Bass Sweeper.

As for Guitar specific pedals for bass, I love the Earthquaker Devices Transmisser. It just shines for spacey soundscape stuff.

I always prefer digital delays for bass over analog stuff because analog delays tend to turn into mud on bass real quick. I like the Avalanche Run on bass.

The only other one besides a tuner that isn't bass specific (like the MXR Bass Compressor, Sansamp, or Darkglass stuff) that I use is a Phase 90. Love it on bass.

The new Beez Nuttz ( Heavily modified Bassballs circuit ) that I did is crazy good and a shit ton of fun ....

Can't go wrong with the Chiron Deluxe or the CE-MOD either

I'm going to do a compressor soon . .. that's next. ..

Not if you have an SVT. And I don’t mean a 7 or any of the fake ass fuckers. 300 watt all tube.

My question for the OP is what is the purpose ? Screwing around at home, maybe recording? Pick some. It don’t matter. Gigging ? What type of band ? I had a 3 piece band doing alternative and hard rock, 90s and newer. Lots of AIC, Deftones, Tool, Chevelle, Offspring, Everclear, Sublime, Nirvana, STP, etc. I had a buncha shit on there early on. Brutal fuzz, envelope filter, compressor, boost, Flanger. Of course a TU-2. After I started using the SVT II non pro I ended up just using the TAFM, the TU-2 and the Ibanez purple Flanger.

These days I play for myself and I go straight to my amp. Though very soon I will be going through Wayne’s new Bezo Balls pedal.

Still a must. Even with a SWR SM900 and 2 goliath 4x10's. It's just a tone shaping device.

When I needed one, the Purple 1.14.

And yes you need to be able to play with a pick for some shit.
I know and a lot of good bassists in the 60's used picks but somehow it became a sort of dumb stigma so I threw it in there, lol

It is something bass players tease each other about. Usually you can tell someone who is a guitar player, playing bass because he’s using a pick. And following the guitar. I’d say if you can’t play finger style and your eyes glaze over into a vacant state when someone tells you to follow the kick drum, you ain’t a bass player.

I prefer to view myself as a jack off all trades
I had a BDDI. After I started using real SVTs ( which they sound nothing like by the way) the only use I had for it was a DI. Once I got the REDDI and a great bass cab mic I never used it again.

I like to run a DI and a mic, but most sound guys suck. Using a REDDI can get you very close to classic SVT territory.

I just run it in front as a EQ and OD.

EHX Pitchfork and Guyatone Stevie Salas Wah Rocker are the two I mainly use with bass

Sobbat Drivebreaker 1 occasionally for bass distortion parts
