For awhile seems there were lots of talk even recommendations for jet city amps on this board and others. I don't think I have heard that name in a long time.

Just a short fad and people move on or are anyone still rocking out their jet city amps?

They still seem popular enough over on HCAF. But yeah, they were the amp of the month there for a while, but the hype seems to have died down. It seems the current flavor of the month is the EVH amps (something I can agree 100% with    ). They'll move onto something else soon. Such is the cycle.

We're snobbier...  we actually buy the Soldano's.... NOTHING wrong with Jet City of course, They've got a multi Ohm Attenuator for $200 in the pipe, I'm snagging one immediatly when they're ready!

I have three Jet City Amps and regularly rehearse with and gig them. (My band recently played the Universal Bar & Grill where I played the JCA22H + JCA24S. Excellent tone and didn't kill the club with a 100-watt head. Whitebox Engineering is also currently in the process of building me a custom 2x12 with WGS ET65 speakers on board. Review will follow once I've taken 'er for a spin.

i'm still digging the JCA50h i have at home, got it pretty cheap added a depth mod, and the tones are win, there's some minor buzz (a bit like a ground loop) i can't seem to great rid of , might be a transformer issue, had a tech look at it, tried all sorts of different tubes and bias, only really noticeable at super high volumes

it's maybe a bit overkill for home use, through 2 2x12s but sounds great

for the money the tones are great

Crate Blackheart, B-52, Blackstar, etc.; they've all been the flavour of the month too.

Seems everything has died out around here lately. Shit, you can't even give a Cameron mod away. They used to sell in minutes. :scared:

I remember when you were lucky to even see a cameron for sale in the classifieds. Especially a modified marshall or sovtek mig. Seems as though everything has slowed down - asking prices arent exactly bad either, just nothing is moving these days. Ive had gear for sale on ebay and here for almost a year and nothing has moved.

I'm thoroughly impressed i haven't heard the mentioning of a world coming to an end blowout sale

Of course it could be mistaken as political propaganda :scared:

I was talking to a music store employee last week and he was saying nobody pays big money for amps anymore; they will for guitars though, and pedals are as popular as ever. I guess the modelers and plugins are really taking over...

It all depends on the store and what kind of clientele they bring in. Places like GC cater to kids with no money.

We don't have those around here :P
I can see the trend in local classifieds too, as far as I'm concerned. I used to sell amps really easily, now I get stuck with them for months and months. Guitars don't sell that much either, but still better than amps. And, of course, the cheaper it is, the faster it sells.

That kinda spoils the whole "might as well sleep with me since it's the end of the world" plan

Michelle has not showed up at my door yet so I find it hard to believe the world will end ?

I'm guessing the Soldano loyalists realized that there ain't $2K worth of difference in the sound of an SLO100 or a JCA100HDM. Egg on face keep mouth shut? Jet City still is one of the best, if not THE best value for the money out there right now. A JCA50H, two-channel Soldano-designed tone machine with serial tube effects loop and foot switch can be had from MF brand new for $599, or $799 if you need the 100-watt power.

In the same price range, new, you can get and Egnater Renegade 65W or Tweaker 88, or a Hughes & Kettner Tubemeister 18.

I've never tried a stock jet city, but I have a BFG modded jca22h and it rips all sorts of ass.

Keep in mind that Jet City does not make a SLO clone. They are hot rods ( the 50/100 waters) which a similar but different circuit wise. Also if JCA did make a SLO clone it would hurt sales of the real one. Same reason Bogner doesn't make the Chinese line 6 knockoffs of the XTC etc.
