 i own a framus dragon ,and i absolutely love the head , great features great sound, the cobra is a monster amp, yet somehow the resale value is crap, a dragon is selling for 800 bucks, yet new there close to 2500 , what is it that people dont like , or is it just a case of the flavor of the month came and went on these

Funny you mention framus,I was wondering what happened to them, haven't heard much about them in awhile, around here anyway.

I don't understand it either. Got a smokin deal on my Dragon. Have been thinking about picking up another Cobra cuz they are so inexpensive. From what the other owners say (o'rouke) they are fairly easy to mod too.

My Cobra was one of the STRONGEST AMPS PERIOD!@!!

not sure why no love.......

im working on putting some clips together, maybe i can stir up some love for these amps again :m17: :D

I think there's two forces at work. One being that the economy sucks and moving any sort of gear is more difficult than it's been in the past. The second being that Framus lacks major brand recognition, which reduces demand which drives down used prices.

It's the same with a lot of stuff. PRS doesn't hold value like Gibson. G&L doesn't hold value like Fender. Framus doesn't hold value like Marshall.

not many people even know about framus...

i bought my cobra new ($3400 AUD) and was lucky to sell it for $2800AUD after 2 years use. they go for around $1800-$2000AUD second hand where i am.

i now have a Framus CS 30W EL84...and no one even knows about it. i love this amp too much but i was close to selling it at one point for something lower wattage. would have had to take a huge loss thou as its even rarer than the ruby riot combos/dragon.

plus framus havent really done much in a while ampwise...probably as their main focus is warwick stuff?

Its part of Sheik Obama's economic stimulus plan. Buy high, sell low....

Now that we have determined that he is an idiot, I think it is just the economy driving everything down in masses. And, everything that was relatively hard to get started flooding the market. Look at Wizard's now. Damn near a 5K amp and now you got to give them away. I remember Diezel's selling used in the mid 3's now than are mid 2's. Very little of anything musical will hold value. The only amps that do are Dumbles and Camerons.

Steve

After playing the Cobra i can see why it doesn't hold it's value. The Dragon sounded ok but the Cobra sounded terrible to me.

I'm hoping that Diezel Einsteins' resale value will continue to decrease. I'd love to pick one up eventually.

BTW, this is hilarious Steve   "Lunar Orbit: Cameron CCV"

It's weird, they were going for a lot more a year ago. Bad time to be selling, good time to be buying.

They never had a great re-sale value to begin with.

i agree the market is horrible, but which ever amp of the month seems to be doing ok, if its just a sign of the times ,i can understand that. if its a dislike for the amp i understand that, it just seems crazy that certain amps in similiar price range new could have completly different resale value

Go on HCAF and casually mention how great Framus sounds in every single amp thread (particularly brootz threads), regardless of whether the Framus tone is appropriate or not for the threads in question. List bands and albums to back up your claims. Refuse to acknowledge any logical argument about where Framus sits in the amp hierarchy. Once the mindless majority starts spewing forth whatever it is you're programming them to say, list it in the classifieds.

It's all amps right now. As mentioned, getting a Diezel VH4 or Herbert for $3K was doing pretty good, these days that is a bit high.

I've seen both a VHT Ultra Lead in the 1400-1500 range, and is that CLX still for sale in the Classifieds for 1550ob0??? As a CLX owner I find that rediculous, that is a $3800 amp!

  i dont want to sell the amp, but i was considering a trade for a diff amp, now the amp i wanted retails for less than my amp, when i suggested a trade ,the other amps owner suggested he would give me half of what he was asking for his amp in trade value. and this is what got me thinking about this thread

#1. It's the best amp I've ever played. Slays everything in sight. I thought my friends 5150 was the most brewtal amp ever until I tried one one of these. It wasn't even a contest. You should've seen the look on my friend's face....

You know, Off the Deep End used to use these. It's all over their self-titled album. They use different amps now, but I liked their tone better back then.

BTW, I have one for sale in the classified section. Only $2600+shipping+paypal fees. I'm selling it because I'm too much of a pussy to drag around a head and 4x12, so I'm going to buy one of those gay little amps the TGP guys are always on about.
