What is a great speaker cab for the Friedman mod amps?

I currently have a Genz-Benz G-Flex 2x12 and old Marshall 4x12 1960. I'm getting a great sound thru the Genz-Benz but the Marshall doesn't sound as full. I thought about selling my Marshall cab and maybe some other stuff to get a nicer 4x12.

I know Jerry Cantrell uses Bogner cabs and he is a Marsha player. I've also seen people mention Scumback speakers, etc. I'd like to keep the price reasonable (around $500 or so?). Just throwing ideas out there for now. I want to do the Friedman modded amp justice thru a great cab.

I play a Marshall 4x12 with M75-65's and H75-65's Scumbacks and a Bogner 4x12 with the same speakers. They both sound killer, but the Bogner in definately darker. I'm assuming from the baffle they add to the back of the cabinet.

Thanks for the info! I imagine a Bogner will set me back a bit but maybe I'll find a deal somewhere.

I have a Marshall straight with V30/M75 x pattern and 2 Bogner fl uber cabs with v30/G75 x pattern. Both sound great. The Marshall is a little toothier and brighter, the Bogner a little deeper and heavier. Both are great. I think the Marshall gives a little more of the traditional sound and the Bogner is a little more modern umphy.

Thanks James! I know you guys run thru a bunch of different gear at ampfests, etc. so you have heard alot of different setups, etc. I've gotta see what speakers I have in the back of my Marshall cab. I thought they were M75s but I'm probably wrong. I don't think it is one of the better cabs that Marshall made but I need to doublecheck that.

I'm thinking of swapping out two of my WGS 75 watters for two Scumback M75s. Are the M75s bright, or sweet sounding speakers? How do they compare to Vintage 30's?

Id say one of the scumback cabinets. the naked one is cool.

They don't. More of a greenback type speaker. Very smooth, woody, and not bright at all. My Fav Scumback. Better than any Celestions I have used.

I think greenbacks are pretty bright sounding. Are the M75s good in the low end tonal range?

I recently ordered a Scumback 69 spec 4X12B with EC grillcloth and 4 J75's
for my Marsha
Can't wit to crank'er up

I've turned the PM function off, I prefer to track conversations through email, and it keeps the RT board bandwidth lower.

The cloth won't be shipped out until the 1st week of November, I know that much. Going to try
and get it done for you before the 11th, and ship it on the 12th (if not sooner).

Sheesh, I wish! It's been 8 straight days of rain/drizzle and no sunshine here in So Cal.
That also keeps cabs from getting done because when it's this cold the glue for the
tolex doesn't cure/dry right and can cause bubbling. Nobody wants that.

I have been busy moving my gear Friday and Saturday. My arms and legs hurt!

My wife & I are bailing out for a week from 11/12 - 11/21. Her job is so completely
insane with deadlines/clients/etc that when she gets a chance to bail out from the stress we do it.
So I'm trying to get all the cab orders done before I leave.

Nah, I'm done busting your balls, Gary. You're no longer a virgin since the doc got to you, and your wife will take over from here.

But how about some purple tolex to match your nut sack color, though?

Or some purple haze LSD? (Not sure I can find any actually!)
