That's what worries me-keeps me away from getting too much into recording. I am looking to get some sort of interface though. So I could add the Presonus Firestudio. Haven't settled on that one but it seems like a good choice.
I just bought the PreSonus and I only have good things to say. I use it with an iMac (2009), and it has been flawless. Plug it in, chiose it as your audio device and you are rocking.
My computer is quite slow, but it had no problem recording a full drum kit the other week with 7 mics.
As for plug ins... It can get a bit silly. Just like guitars, but thrice as bad. But it's so much fun.
I just got the Vintage Warmer 2... Ridiculously good plug in. I don't know how I made it through the day before. Seriously.
