SPLAWN is about the best thing going for a high quality cab at a fair price!

I Agree !

I've never had a Splawn 4x12, but I did have a OS 2x12 and it was a very high quality cab. But it did get boomy really easy. I didn't care for the Eminence speakers.

Splawn also uses rabet joints. No finger, box or dovetail. But it so does not matter. When properly assembled, any glued corner will be stronger than the surrounding material itself. That said, when I build cabs, I box joint them. Just a little more surface area for the glue.

New Diezel cabs or Any Bogner cab

Are you talking about the New German made Diezels or the USA made ones.

I heard the Bogner, Diezel and Mesa cabs were made in the same shop by one contractor. Is this true?

The Marshall Hand Wired Cabs are very good (Comparable to the Bogner 4x12). Only new Marshall Cab to have IMO.

+1

I have the same cabinet. I like it better than the Diezel rear loaded 4x12 with V30's.

I don't know about Mesa, but Bogner and Diezel were. Marvick Enclosures.

I have Mojo cabs, Bogner cabs, Spalwn cabs, and Marshall cabs. The splawn cab is a whole different animal. In a good way. I like the Bogner and Mojo cabs a ton. The marshall cabs I have are all different but the handwired cabs are better. Same goes for the older marshall cabs. The last 4 to 5 years for marshall cabs has them all made out of left over scraps from the tab board furniture outlets.

I have also heard really good things about the Wizard cabs but cant find any except for the new ones and they are pretty pricey.
Not too many of them pop up used...probably a good reason for that.

The old 90's Trace Elliot 4x12 cabs are about the best overall cab I've encountered. seriously. UK-built, awesome, resonant ply. Same wiring as a Marshall. Cheap as hell on the used market. pick one up in a pawn shop, and be floored.

like that?

actually, no.

that one is:

mono
compact
metal grilled
G1260L equipped
etc.

mine is :

full size
stereo
g12t75 equipped
cloth grilled
etc

It still might be cool I would say, Where's the logo??? how about $200?

As far as the West Coast cabs go I have heard a lot of cabs are made by a company called Pacwood. They have a fairly nondescriptive website that doesn't mention any specific builders. They make what they are asked to make...meaning they are a "contract" manufacturer of cabs per the amp builder's spec.

There's also another company called Berang (not sure if it's spelled) right that does a lot of PCB building for amps that use PCB's.

I can't confirm who does or does not use Pacwood or Berang. In manufacturing it's pretty standard to sub out things and use contract manufacturers. It allows the amp builders to focus on design and product development which is their forte.
Just my $.02. This is nothing to worry about...just the way it's likely done internally at the amp builder's shops.
Reinhold even mentions PCB construction is done "at another location" in a tour video that's on youtube.

fryette/vht for me.

I also like front loaded diezels and ENGL PRO V30's

TI'd personally choose a Bogner V30 or Mesa Trad/Stiletto cab.

Agreed. I have a Stiletto 4x12 cab that I want to sell, but it's really good quality so I feel uncomfortable about letting it go. It's just that I don't like V30 speakers anymore.

If anyone does want to take it off my hands for some cash..................

After playing through the slew of cabs at our amp day, I am gonna say A Wolfe Amplification 4x12
a little bigger than a avatar modern. Made out of white oak with a baltic ply baffle board. every single amp we played sounded good through it, even ones that traditionally didnt like the vintage 30 t75 combo he had rocking

Nobody noticed the noob with the necro-bump?

I'm actually surprised there isn't more mention of Orange.
