At a music store?

Either by an employee or someone shopping?

Studio engineer: "wow, you're better than Dave Mustaine".

I got a million of them from Guitar Center. I had an argument with two employees, one of whom was a manager, over the Les Paul trad pro II's alpine white color. I never seem to see them in store, so I asked the guy in guitars if he had ever seen one in store. "nope, the traditional doesn't come in white, that was a studio". Keep in mind that I said the full name with "pro II" AND I was holding one. He knew exactly which model I was talking about. He tried to look it up on his computer and said that he couldn't find it because it doesn't exist. He got a manager and he said the same thing, even with a "you're thinking of the studio" comment. so finally I just looked it up on my phone and showed them, "well I'll be" said the manager, lol. Wish I had thought of that earlier. At no point did either of them say "well, at least I think" or anything, just the "nope, you're wrong kind" of attitude.

Cute goth chic at Guitar Center, about a year ago.

Telling me I needed to try this new Mesa. It was the MKV. She said Vee, not 5. I told her I have a MKIIC and I like it for the time being. She explained the Vee is the gradual improvement of each model of the amp. So I asked her why it was called a Vee, instead of the obvious 5.

The reason? It was like how the XBOX went from XBOX to XBOX 360. It doesn't have to go in any order.

And I should upgrade from a Mark IIC because it is old and has been upgraded like 4 or 5 times.

She must really give great head... The lip piercing looked like it might be a bit touchy.

Well I bought a loaded Mesa IIC+ from Guitar Center for $1100 because they thought it was a Mark III.

That cracked me up for some reason

"You can't let the bridge get that dirty, you can't set your trem that far forward it'll kill your sustain."
"If you use heavy strings you'll stop breaking them".
"You don't need locking tuners if your trem is double-locking".
"You need to leave the amp on standby first".
"You have to loosen the strings before you fly".
"Your left handed, you should play a left handed guitar".
"It's all in the wrist".

"You should look at the new Vox Valvetronix if you like the all tube tone."

"This guitar TOTALLY KICKS ASS"

(holding up a BC RICH Kerry King starter kit guitar that sells for $149)

Quote "Your tubes blew because you were playing too quietly tube amps NEED to be cranked to work" My local amp guru hung that quote on his wall in his shop after I told him that lol

You ever want to have a 45 minute conversation with a guitar center employee? Just ask them where their band is playing this weekend.

People who work at guitar stores like Guitar Center or Sam Ash know zero percents about everything. Which amounts to nothing.

My biggest pet peeve of all time is when music stores (especially GC) don't list the speakers that a cab has on the tag. Especially used cabs. I was in GC last week, looking at a used Marshall 4x12. No way of knowing what speakers were in it and GC doesn't check. I asked an employee and he's like... uh yeah they're Celestions. Oh really? Celestions? Thanks brah, that's super helpful! How about what model, Celstion makes like 30 different speakers.

Mine happened yesterday at guitar center braintree, although Ive heard many this one for some reason takes the cake
me: Hey man, can I check out that lp through the 6505(head)
gc: not that one man,its not plugged in
me: ok? what have you got
gc: we have one of the 112 combos
me: o,the little made in china one huh
gc: All Peavey's are made in china
me: (pointing to the head) UM that is made in the usa as are most of their amps. Just the 112 6505 and valve king amps are over seas
gc: I don't think so man(looks behind the head) O damn, this is made in the usa
me: (turns and just walks away)

This was a few years ago at a GC - new guy was very aggressively trying to make a sale.

I was playing through an Electra-Dyne for the first time and really digging it and checking out pedals, etc and he comes over and compliments my playing.
Then when I started talking he interrupted me and asked about my rig. I told him what I was using and again he interrupts me, and out of nowhere, says I should buy a Boss Noise Suppressor pedal....I said that my rig is very quiet and I don't need one and that if I did purchase one, it'd probably be a different noise gate.

I'm not making this up--He replies, "well you might not be using your rig correctly if you're not getting any noise".... WTF???
