So what is the current going rate for the ESP MX explorer market, I got one or two I bought directly from Japan years ago, one is a 1992 model with the factory case and near mint condition. I'm debating keeping vs. selling them but then I remember reading about 6 months ago one sold for 20k a black one made in 2019.

I'm just curious what the current market is on these.

So no one knows what the market rate is, was going to offer one up for sale here first at a good price before I go ro Reverb, I just need to know current market value and am not having good luck finding most recent sales just older ones when they were much cheaper.

Rare has hen's teeth so hard to pin down a number. Did you check Reverb and ebay completed listings? About as good a gauge as you'll get. Good luck on the sale.

Talk to Parker at Diablo Guitars, he’s got a few for sale and has also sold a few in the last year

Diablo has had a few sitting around 16k. There's a one on reverb for about 14k.

I havent thrown any offers in as im not in the market but id imagine 10-12k would move somewhat quickly in today's market

It's what someone's willing to pay, I wouldn't get delusional. Seems they get more overseas.

The ones I've seen sell in the U.S. are typically around 10k.

Thanks for the replies, I may actually keep mine for a while longer, seems like there is a huge spread on pricing at the moment because I'm seeing everything from 10k up to 20k.

It's insane what these go for now. I had a white one that I bought for around $3500 or so. Maybe 5-6 years ago. I sold it for about the same price. Guess I should have kept that one.

Real money is 10 to 12k if mint or near mint, 8 to 9k if its kinda beatup and chipper areas with wood showing. Theres guys that can ask 20k but rarely does anybody pay that price, usually the listings drop in price or get sold for less outside of reverb.

The market on these is pretty nutty right now I think I will hold off on any selling till I see some price stability on these... Never seen anything like this and I've been buying and selling guitars since the late 90's. I remember getting mint condition ones from Japan for 1200 or less but this was back in like 2012.

it was $21K i bet by 2028 lol
