I know most of us have that one guitar that just shouldn't sound as good as it does, right? I have some decent axes, I love my RG Ibanez, but there are a couple that really just shouldn't sound like they do. One I'm really diggin right now is this little Washburn Idol 14. Killer sound and plays amazing for a $150 guitar. Post 'em, lets see 'em

The Ibanez RG. Cheap, durable, plays great and with a few mods, sounds great too. My RG is my slump buster, sometimes I won't touch her for months and then I get the urge to do so and the riffs always seem to happen.

Yup yup, love the RG's I have a few of them. A set of Dimarzios and off to the races.

Dean USA custom shop RCMLF no.2 natural quilt top. Out of 5 custom dean jobs, it's the king dean.

Deans get a bad rep because the imports suck, raping dimes name, blah blah blah.... Truth is the custom shop stuff is as good as anyone else's...and I got to go to dean h.q.and pick out the tops and fine tune the neck carve on a couple of them. Who wouldn't want service like that?

(My Gutierrez custom corpse mlf crushes all. Just saying....had to be honest.)

My Ibanez RG1520! Great guitar for the money I paid for it.

a vintage v52 icon , a cheapo relic'd telecaster i got for like 250euros , previous owner changed out the pickups to dimarzio twang kings + added a 4 way selector switch (pickups in series), had to file some edges but that was about it, yet to find a tele i like more

I have only underrated guitars :D , pick anyone: Ibanez SZ520, Edwards E-LP92, ESP LTD TE-212, PRS SE MM baritone.

This thread should be loaded with Ibanez guitars. In my experience, the ultimate bang for the buck.

I had an Epi LP that was great after a pickup swap. I gigged with that fiddle for years and beat the ever loving hell out of it. Never let me down, sounded and played great, and stayed in tune!

I will second the RG's also. Every one I had was solid as a rock.

Late 90's Epi Les Paul with Duncans in it. Very broken in, great playing guitar.

Love my ibanez Rg's. But I have a custom from a guy that doesn't seem to be getting any love on here. Jon Hill out of Cleveland. He's now building as Bootleg Guitars. My custom is amazing!!!!! I loosely based it on an ibanez voyager/suhr reb beach and Jon killed it!!!!! It's got an amazing flamed koa top, can't the neck is like butter. If your looking for a new piece, check out www.bootlegguitars.com

i have two actually. my '78 ibby cn 100. carved top three piece mahogany body with a bolt on neck and super 80's. it had a couple issues.. so i took it to a local guy who fixed them. i still have a couple minor repairs i need to do.. but it sounds and plays great.. sustain for days. i don't play it enough.
i also a have partsocaster that i slapped together. i started with a neck from an 80's arbor guitar. it's a very nice maple neck with a very tight grain compared to what's out there now. it had one loose fret.. which i fixed. nice medium jumbo frets. threw the rest of it away and recycled a bunch of other parts. it could use some better tuners and an upgrade to the pups.. but over all it plays really well.

It's not an electric but I bought a Yamaha APX 9C acoustic used a couple years ago, the guitar is from the early 90's I believe. It's just beautiful to play, ebony fretboard, white bindings that turned to a nice cream color, feels better built that any other acoustic i've played. It's almost as easy to play as an electric for soloing.

I'd have to say the import BC Rich guitars from a few years ago. Aside from cheap pots they're not that bad really. I replaced pickups and pots on mine

I have 2...a Special X and an ST below that havent been played in along time...need to sell em

LTD Viper 400, never thought I would like these guitars but picked one up cheap last year and plays/sounds great. I moved the strap button up onto the upper horn and now the guitar is very well balanced and comfortable to play strapped up.

For me it's the Ibanez RGT2020SOL - I own two. Absolutely bas ass neck through guitars. Throw in some killer pickups and it's perfect. You can pick these up under a grand and will give any of my $2K - $3K guitars a run for their money. Dead serious, these will die with me.

My Fender Strat Blacktop, I replaced the bridge PU for a Duncan JB and this 550$ new guitar beats my American Strat on the side of the pics.

This. My RG3XXV is still one of my favorites even though it's not a high-end guitar. It's not perfect but none of its flaws detract from the way it plays or feels.

Also, the LTD Elite series (now renamed or discontinued or something) don't get much love but they were some of the best bang for buck guitars in and out of its price range and can be had for near $1100 on closeout now. I'll go as far as saying they're some of the best guitars period as they are made in the same line as the ESP Standards/E-II with the same parts as far as I can tell, excellent workmanship, attention to detail and setup from the get-go. They play and sound like more expensive guitars, and in some cases better. My Elite H-III is one of the most versatile sounding guitars I own, from cleans to metal it does it all well.
