What is the 1 piece of gear that was challenging for you to use? For me it was when i ordered my first Marshall JMP-1. I Didn't understand that you need to crank the power amp....My tone ended up sounding like a metal zone.

Distortion pedals.. I never never ever got any good result with those into a clean channel..

Many years later I tried one with very low gain into a crunchy channel and got "good" results but it didn't shatter my misunderstanding of those.

I don't get those. I see people using metal zone into a 5150. wtf?

7 string guitars.

after playing 6 strings for 20 years, then trying to make a 7 string my one and only guitar was a bad idea.
never got used to the spacing and extra string, even after 3 years of playing it.

I will be honest and say any modeler. I have had all the big ones multiple times. I really enjoy them and will almost certainly buy another in the future. My hang-up is no matter how great it sounds I get way too into my head and continue to question if it sounds as good as a “real” amp. I need to simply turn-off that line of thinking and go with “if it sounds good it IS good” but I struggle to get there.

Fucking MIDI !!! Anything to do with it !!! LOL

I feel your pain. About 10 years ago i had a 14 Space Rack with a Mesa Dual Rackto & a bunch of other shit & 1 of the pieces i had was the Ground Control Pro & GCX. I had to have my bass player at the time program everything for me cause i just did not want to deal with it.

The old rockman midi octopus works and you don't need a degree to do it :D

Any instrument without strings attached to it.

You should buy a tube amp headshell and shove the modeller inside it. LOL!

This.

I have a new Bradshaw foot switch and I have no idea how to program it.

...mostly any OD, dirt or distortion pedals. I find them useless with the amps available today. Muff is one that's kinda needed as only Muff is Muff (Fuzz, for more of a general term). And that makes sense as I'm somewhat notorious for liking good muff anyway, so, no surprise :D

Outside of this? I had years of experimentation with Fractal's stuff. My bad for sure, but jesus, the time I spent staring at that fucking green-screen compared to playing?? Ridiculous.

besides the obvious hurdle; guitar :m17: :)

I still hate screwing with a compressor. I know it's basically simple, but any time I screw with one I usually end up referring to a description of the controls, haha.

I struggle with Fender Stratocasters and I have no f'ing idea why. I have been going thru this never ending circle since high school:

- Hear cool strat tones
- Decide I want a Strat
- Hear clangy tone with too many mids
- Sell Strat

I know one day I'm going to play one and it is going to have the perfect combo of fretboard and pickups and I'll love it.

My first Mesa Mark...a purple III. That was the first amp that I had to google to get some insight, clearly not a "dial them all at 5" type of amp. Lol. 10 minutes after firing it up, I was looking up settings on the net.....

I tend to avoid Midi like the plague.

You need a Chubtone with DiMarzio FS-1s or Duncan SSL-5s.

Floyds. Even though I would like to have a trem Guitar that could take abuse and stay in tune, I can’t seem to get over the Floyd hurdle. I’ll probably stick with some kind of strat with a not locking trem. Or just get another Gibson while looking for a super strat...lol

I can't play bolt-on guitar necks to save my life....

I get this "Strat" thing. I love their tone, er, when other people can conjure the tones. Adore many Strat players (Jimi, Holmes, SRV, Blackmore, the list is massive!!), but just can't do "strats" or any bolt-on neck guitar.

And might as well throw free-floating trem systems into the mix too. I rest my palm to much on the bridge, screws up my program totally.

another plus one on the midi.

any guitar with a double locking tremolo system. i can't stay it tune for more than 5 minutes no matter what.
