ask for pics of behind the nut.

Yep, and the neck joint as previously mentioned. I'd also want a closeup pic of the trem to see if it's starting to bubble (plating on the edge trems could be really craptacular) and also the jack plate, as a few misses with the guitar cord can scratch it up.

Post some pics too, some of the combinations on the florals were really cool looking and some were on the edge of ugh. When I gigged with mine, I called it the polarizer - people either were like "YEAH!" or "FAG!" when I played it onstage. Then they would shut up when I played a few sweep licks, yanked some harmonics up 7 steps and then delivered a sweep kick to their face. :D

If you're getting it for collectibility/coolness I understand that, but the '93 Ebony board White Vine Jem (can't remember what the short name was) that I have smokes the FP I had. It sounds better, isn't as fruity looking and the playability is amazing.

99 JEM 77FP mint. I think I will try to pick it up for $1800 or so for the hell of it.

Brad, check out this site for quite accurate used Ibanez prices:

http://www.ibanezrules.com/used.htm#JEM

Those prices are high in my opinion.

Pete

Rich's prices on used stuff is high in my opinion as well, people buy from him as he does set up a mean playing guitar and is trusted but he is high.

Yeah, it may be a bargain if you don't know or have the time to set up a guitar... but compared to anyone else's similar guitar, he's high. Guy is pretty meticulous though and is held in super high regard.

Gonna agree with this..Alder body and Ebony board = total tone win....but you're nuts if you think all that gold bling isn't fruity ;)

It's less fruity than mom and dad's drapes on the guitar and pink pickups... compared to my FP, my Jem is the Clint Eastwood of the production series!

Jumping on the Floral for the condition.

Man when I get on a kick I get on a kick.

I just scored this JEM DNA on the bay within minutes of its listing about an hour ago:

Did you pay $3800 ?

yup, That one was a good deal for $3800 me thinks.

They only made 300 of the DNA guitars and the JEM fans are really into them. I bought this one for $4500 a few years ago from a guy in Canada and was offered $6500 for it from a guy in Italy shortly thereafter, kinda crazy but a neat stick.

Thanks, I was into Jems a few years back and bought a pile of them but never did get a Floral hence the question. I also have a JEM 10th in the closet. Funny to have these shred guitars when I am a Les Paul guy...

The 10th is a work of art...had a shot at one for $3700 last year....had to pass it up 'coz I needed to make mortgage payments...

They're only going up in value (sadly for me...great for you :gethim: ) :D

Awesome Jems!!! I had a yellow one when they first came out but sold it in '89 because I was playing mainly Les Pauls at that point. Sellers remorse set in soon thereafter.

A few years ago, I started grabbing a few of my favorites (ignore the Charvel):

I still want to add a Jem 10th and a 77PMC! :D
