Indeed...I'd say my XTC 101A and my Herbert are my favorites. The Diezel is a freaking riot to play...I've only had the thing a month or so and its a trip.
1) My Engl Invader - I love the lead channel on it, it is the first time I've had an amp where I forget that I like playing rhythm too
2) Mesa Mark IV - A classic obviously, very Petrucci-esque, took some digging into the strings, but it sounded amazing
3) Cornford MK50H - Gorgeous lead tone, a mixture of Brian Mays lead tone (one of my favourites to this day), a fusionesque tone (Holdsworth/Lane/Henderson), and a Nocturnal Rites style edge to it. If I had the money, i'd get this for a lead only amp.
Gainfreaks MK IV with his home setup by running a miced cab into his Lexicon is the best lead setup I have ever played, I still remember the first day years ago hearing that rig.
in no favorite order,, the list is of my favorite are cameron aldrich, Elmwood m60, Cornford 50 splawn comp.. depends on the day which is my favorite.. all are fun to play leads on.. lately the elmwood is getting all the jam time.. Hard to pick just one!
My list will be Cameron modded marshall plexi 1987x, Elmwood modena 60, Splawn Pro-stock, Marshall silver jubilee 2555 . All do a different flavor. ALL ROCK. The best of the best.
