It may be shocking, but I agree with you on this one. I’ve heard about the particular circumstances surrounding this, and I agree that the parents should be charged. There was extreme negligence, and practically enabling of their son on this crime. This is due to the PARTICULAR CIRCUMSTANCES of what those parents did and said before the crime took place, NOT simply because they owned a gun. They are culpable in this crime because of their actions and words.
The school admin is at least somewhat culpable too, I think. Multiple, multiple warning signs with this kid, even that morning, and they didn’t even check his bags or locker or anything. In the end, though, it was that pice of shit that pulled the trigger and is ultimately responsible for his own actions.

yeah its pretty bad. One hand they should be accountable but part of me feels that they were marketed by the gun culture and they took that to extreme distorted positions.
Both parents have had alcohol problems in the past but just as the DWI offenders try to blame their issues on alcohol most people can & should be held accountable for their actions.
Their kid part of me feels bad for as his life is over before it began.
And the attorneys/families/courts/Law Enforcement all have sooo much to deal with.
Huge tragic mess which could easily have been avoided.

I’m with you on everything you said except for this. I don’t understand what you mean by this. It seems to imply that these people were influenced by the gun rather that they were shitty people BEFORE they even bought the gun.
For example, I have a loaded gun in my closet right now. Do those people and I belong to the same “culture” or de we happen to share a particular similarity in that we both own firearms? Genuine question. Essentially I’m asking, what do you mean by “gun culture.” ?

Many gun owners are responsible but lets face it, alot are not.
Gun ownership is wide open and has been for decades.
Very little gun regulations as a whole State to State.
40 years of the NRA and other org's marketing to people they need a gun to go grocery shopping.
The Michigan school shooting is but a micro-cosmic by products of 2nd Amendment sales & marketing.
Im sure the parent didn't think they were doing anything wrong even after they did.

If you think more gun regulation will stop these kinds of crimes or slow it down, then why do cities with the strictest gun laws have the most gun related crime?
In the end, it boils down good people versus bad people. You cannot legislate away human nature.

I think you’re right. I used to vote democrat. I’m kind of an old school classical liberal, honestly. I’m much more conservative since I’ve gotten older, but I agree with a lot of the classically liberal policies. Especially the social ones.

No, but cars can carry 20-30 gallons of gas which you can carry in your pocket. You can run your body into a crowd of people and maybe cause a few bruises, however, if you drive your car into a crowd of people you can easily kill lots of people. We can go at this all night. It's not the gun or the car. It's the person behind them.
