I have a duncan JB and I have gibson covers in 50mm and I assume 53mm? I also have covers in a package that say neck and other is bridge.

The JB doesnt fit perfectly. The closest is the 50mm or neck pickup cover (I assume these are both 50mm) but the JB screws on the outside pole pieces are slightly narrower.

Maybe Duncan will sell some direct. I’d reach out to them.

The OP it’s a little confusing , do you need standard space covers or trembucker spaced covers ? Either way there’s genuine Seymour Duncan pickup covers on eBay as we speak . I’ve used the 53mm trembucker cover in the past for a JB trembucker and it fit as it should

I have a standard jb. I have gibson covers. They don’t fit. I have 50mm and 53mm gibson covers abs neither fit. The 50mm almost fits but it’s off my less than 1mm if I had to guess.

I would assume this would work seeing as you have a Duncan and this cover is made by Duncan . Just make sure your getting the 50mm spaced cover

I’m running into the same problem. I have Gibson 498T and Duncan custom SH-5 pickups and neither fit a 50mm Gibson spacing pickup cover even though one is a legit Gibson pickup.

I’ll have to order 49.2mm ones as well. They aren’t even close to fitting and are narrower than the hole spacing of 50mm.

Are you saying your gibson pickup doesn’t fit a Gibson cover?

My jb is close to fitting in the 50mm. When you say not close that’s confusing.

What are you guys doing when soldering a cover on a pickup? Tape over the pickup? Silicone? Nothing and clamp it?

Correct. Gibson 50mm cover doesn’t fit a Gibson 498T pickup. I think the T stands for trembucker. The pickup is narrower.

I don’t plan on putting anything on top of mine, but I do plan on Clamping it somewhat tight before soldering it.

It needs dampening or it will howl. You can use some painters tape to cover the seam between bobbins an use silicone along the slugs and seam, clamp snd solder

50mm will not fit. They are 49.2mm. The OP confirmed the Duncan is smaller than 50mm
Seymour Duncan Classic Cover Nickel Silver Humbucker Pickup Cover - Brand New!
These Nickel-silver Classic Covers are made from the finest materials and offer a direct fit for most U.S. made humbuckers. Designed for string spacing of 1.95" (48.9mm) measured center of high string to center of low string over the pickups.

That won`t fit his pickup ?

I didn’t say that wouldn’t work. I responded specifically to the comment telling him get 50mm. 50mm and 49.2mm are not interchangeable Whereas 48.9mm likely is.

Just be aware, old duncan pickups have weird spacing. Sometimes the high and low E screw poles hit the edges. Meaning time has changed the pickup size over the years and covers arent super accurate.
