Are you suggesting that this is an example of what a band needs to play a 250-seat (or less) venue? Or, is this your idea of a suitable PA setup and want confirmation/options/suggestions?

The specs are to help understand the limitations in a playing these types of venues. To compensate and understand the gear that is missing Players can have better control over their sound.

The clubs of this size I've played have had much better gear...

but I brought it

Yeah, Uhm, unclear dude...

Do you want us to say, Combo's? 1/2 stacks? no more than a full stack?

I've seen all three at venues that size, and sounded good...

So??

Don't understand why we need the backline details...

I sing and play guitar in my band, (Frontman) and dont ever need to know more than my boys get mics...

I do not understand.

These are minimum requirements and should be part of your rider. If you show up at a club that doesn't meet these specs then you either cancel the show or have them remediate prior to soundcheck.

Right! Get it now... If Thats what the op meant ...

Rig to me means my shit, amps guitars, etc... Not the houses entire PA system...

If the have a stage, and a pa? I'll play it!

I have no idea what he meant. Just making it up as I go...

Questions:

How many pieces in your band? What's the instrumentation? Any dual purpose guys (vox+guitar, guitar+keys, etc)? This determines who gets a monitor mix in case you have more players than mixes available. If you aren't going to get a monitor mix, this directly affects what you should bring and how you should set it up. If you are also a vocalist, this would affect what to bring and how to set it up. How does the singer sing? Naturally loud voice, or are they softer? How is their mic technique? Where do they stand or are they very mobile?

What is your style of music? Heavy? Blues? Clean?

How deep is the actual room? How is the load in / set up procedure and how much time do you get for each?

All we know is the venue sound specs. We know nothing about you/your band. How can we assess your needs if we don't know that?

There's a Moses came down from the mountain vibe here...thou shalt not play unless thy house system is well equipped

This is why so many clubs just hire a DJ nowadays..

Amen  The drummer in my band said something along these lines when we were first getting something together - "you know, we shouldn't be playing any of these clubs unless we have contract" What? Who the hell is going to give a bar band/cover band a "contract"?? It was so un-rock-n-roll, I nearly quit the band

To the OP question, bring whatever you want to bring. I only have 1 amp, 1 cabinet, 1 pedal board and 2 guitars so I can't really relate to having to decide what I should bring. Not that there's anything wrong with choices. I just like to keep it simple.

The places we play are bars and small clubs and they don't provide anything. One venue in our rotation has a permanently installed snake, but it's only 24 channels so we either run ours, or cut back on the number of drum mics that night.

We provide everything for the venues we play; our personal rigs/drums, the entire PA and the lights. Then, we cram as much of it as we can on whatever ridiculously small, wierdly situated stage they have, tweak the PA to make the room sound as good as possible and then play for 4 hours. No riders, no contracts, no expectations. that's the way it works in my section of the corn belt
