What should I do with all of my old cassette tapes?

I actually sold the bulk of my cd collection a few years ago only for the fact that i was tired of moving them, and i wasnt using them as everything is on the computer through itunes and backed up on multiple drives (for safety)

I kept only what was important to me and I still buy CD's but its more from artists that I always listen to and know what to expect from on a album

I still listen to tapes. A lot of punk and underground metal bands still do cassette demos because of how ridiculously cheap they are to put out. The entire noise music scene thrives on tapes too. Plus, I just plain like collecting them.

Yeah. CDs are dead to me too. I ripped everything I had and sold it in bulk 3-4 years ago. I just subscribe to Napster now.

I have been wondering about the same thing I have 2-300 from dokken, tesla to metallica, slayer and ect..
I have been considering just throwing a few in the trash each time I take it out, on their own they are heavy

Let go of the past, get rid of any non essential items in your life, you will be happier for it. Even though 7 stringer tape collection is a cool nostalgia trip and convo starter not everyone can do that...

I get your point, space might be an issue sometimes or whatever other reason but good memories always makes one feel good.

this is very important..... getting stuck in the past it's not healthy. It's not about the tapes, it's about the music. You can find ALL of those on CD/Digital Download, so get rid of that man, unclutter your life

That`so un-true dude, maybe get rid of bad memories stuff, but since when is your teenage casstte collection been not healthy??? One the contrary, it is healthy, remember when you got laid on 18 in life in `89? I sure do and it is a damn cool memory of mine. I`d beat the shit out of anybody who`d try to take my tapes away :gethim:

Keep them dude, if not, send me a PM and i`ll take them off your hands. ~I missing Kill`em all on Banzai, my friend`s tape deack ate ages ago, i`m now stuck the Elektra version....

Anyone old enough to remember 78 and 16 RPM vinyl ?

And $3000 Nakamichi cassette decks ?

I keep all my CD's as well. I like having a physical copy of things since files on a computer are unpredictable.

I only have a few tapes though  Mainly just a few things that were considered collector.

Grab a handful of tape so you got maybe 2-3 feet hanging out. Get on the freeway and go about 80, and hold the cassette out the window. The wind will catch the tape and unwind it all and in about 2.7 seconds and about rip the cassette out of your hand when you reach the end. Lots of fun.
