Amp is Bogner Shiva EL34 head.
I love my 4x12 with V30/H30 70th Anniversary mix.
So, I want the same vibe in a 2x12, but the cab has to be able to handle 80 watts.
Ideas? I play heavy hard rock/stoner rock/metal. Thanks!

I've got an H30/v30 in my OS 2x12 that I use with my Shiva-J and have not had any issues.

G12T75 but its all personal taste

Do a search….This has been discussed many many times :D

A V30/H30 mix in a 2x12 will give you 90 watts of power handling capability...if you like those speakers together, go for it. A V30/Greenback mix is nice as well.

I was under the impression that the V30/H30 mix handles 60 watts.

Yeah, but don't you go off of the handling of the lowest powered speaker?

You are correct Sir, lowest wattage speaker times number of speakers = power handling.

Nonetheless, I've had this speaker config for some time without issue and also had two GBs in the cab originally. I would imagine at some point of crankage there may be risk with the Shiva and this config but unless he's blasting the amp it shouldn't be a problem. If volume is important I'd suggest a 4x12.

My favorite mix (with V30) would be a V30 and H75 Scum., Hard Rock/Metal,Perfect,,,Stoner, probably another V30, all just my opinion of course. A lot depends on the cab type/brand as well.

Veteran 30 for a smoother V30 chunk.
Classic Lead 80 for clarity
G12T75 for similar GH30 highend, but much less mids
ET65 for fat mids, tight lows.
Reaper HP50 GH30 clone with higher handling.

Thanks D-Rock. The tight lows of the H30 are what I'm mainly concerned with keeping in the mix.

The main thing you should be aware of is the decibel rating of the speakers. I know a lot of guys like a Greenback/V30 mix, but the V30 is louder than the Greenback. I don't think they mix well because the sound is unbalanced.

I went with this same mix based on gibson08 and was definitely very pleased with the outcome!!

I love the V30 H30 mix. Right now I have 3 4x12s, one with the V30 H30 combo, one with the V30 T75 combo, and one with just Greenbacks.

V30/G12H30 all the way. Unreal combo. Used these in my 2x12's and just recently tossed them in a X pattern into my Marshall 1960AX 4x12. TONEGASM!!!!

What about an EV 12L?

I have an EV 12S and it's 200 watts.
I use 2 EVM 12L BS 300w in 2 1x12 cabs with my Bog V30 cab

The Op needs to either experiment and find the right speaker freq range/break up etc for him.
