And dont even suggest Kahler or Ill find you and Cock punch you!!!

Im putting together a YJM parts-o-caster and Im debating on what to use tremwise. So far, Ive been thinking about a Wilkinson or a good 2pt fender style. Is there a good updated 6pt trem out there?

You know that I know nothing about those vibrators, Kage :D

I'm not sure if they are even available outside of the guitar but I love the floating trem on the EBMM Petrucci. Super stable, very comfortable and works flawlessly. I like the stability of the Original Floyd Rose but they never felt super comfortable. Partly because I played Les Pauls with a set bridge for so many years. I don't know if that helps but my $.02.

No reason to not go with a regular Fender 6-screw, IMO. Maybe grab an EJ one off of ebay because it'll have the nice big block on it. But if you want something with smoother action and more floydish angle and shape to the bar (talking about the actual stick), then a Gotoh 510, which is a non-locking two-post, get the steel trem block, and then either solid saddles or bent (vintage-style) saddles depending on your pref. Allparts has 'em.

wilkinson /gotoh vs-100n.. if you want a floater with threaded studs.. or wilkinson vsvg if you want a vintage 6 holer. of course you have to take string spacing into consideration no matter what.
i used a grover on my partsocaster and so far it's been fine for me.. but i'm not a real whammy bar type of player anyway. i'll use one on occasion.. but my style (or lack of) doesn't depend on it. if it did i probably would have dropped the bucks on a really good tremelo.. lol.

As far as trems go, I reccomend the Gibson style stop tail piece or string through body.

A kahler... check out Kahlers NOS strat replacement at http://www.wammiworld.com/u1005.html The B-29 looks pretty sweet.

I've never heard one in person so I can't "recommend" it per se. Don't think you could go wrong with a Wilkinson either.

Psh, be a man and just use a floyd!

But really, the Wilkinsons are nice.

i love these trems

Ya know what Michael? they dont look half bad!!! I think that Im going to go with the Gotoh Wilkinson unit, Ive used them before and they had a floydish feel but a vinatge trem tone( or closer to it than a floyd) Some locking tuners and a graphite nut should do the trick nicely

I have Wilkinsons on my two mutt strats, and they are fantastic and can Withstand all kinds of abuse.

I had a REAL USA Wilkinson VS-100. not that Licensed Gotoh phony Asian shit.

I liked it.

HUGE +1.

I guess I go too crazy on my trem guitars, but I've never had anything that went back in tune as well as a floyd, locking tuners/graphite nuts or anything.

The trem on my EJ strat did pretty well, actually - but we're talking about gentle vibrato, not giant divebombs and 5 step harmonic pullups on the G string, ya know? I think it's going to depend on what you're going to do with the trem - Vai madness or every once in awhile gently warbling a chord?

Steinberger Trans Trem!

Just kidding, although I'd love to have one myself...

I like the feel of Wilkinsons and they look classy as hell
