I am going to be going the load ox and IR route but I will say that I am confused as hell.

I need something that can take 4, 8, and 16 ohms so I can use all of my amps.

I need to make it quiet or silent, but both would be ideal. I would like to be able to use monitors and/or headphones.

I like everything I hear about the wall of sound. Can you use WOS with other products?

I don't need it live, at all. Just studio stuff. Giggability is not a concern, as I have a perfectly fine setup for that. I am the type who would prefer sacrificing live tone over recorded tone, as nobody at a gig cares about a Telefunken 12AX7 in V1 or V2. But I do If I record.

It has to be able to support 100 watts of power safely.

It has to be friendly with Reaper and a Scarlett 2i4

Which torpedo? or Suhr? Rivera? Fryette? Etc.

I want to be able to be in the $800 range.

Torpedo CAB + Suhr Reactive Load is what I am now using and the tone+ feeling playing through my JBL 308s is really amazing. I had previously watched some videos comparing the Suhr vs the rivera and the rivera didn't sound good to me, really dull and lifeless.

what is the advantage to having the CAB and Suhr RL?

i agree that rivera is a little lacking in that video.

but doesn't your suhr only take 8 ohms?

UR right! I just saw that!

Arguably Suhr products are the best for the $$,,,realizing "best" is subjective...YMMV of course.

The Suhr Reactive Load is about 100$ more than the torpedo two notes Captor. ~~$250 vs $350.

Suhr Reactive Load IR is ~~$600 and has some very high-quality IR already loaded. Cant' answer to whether or not they're better than the WOS Irs....
WOS is "free", but for only a limited time i believe, then you have to purchase the Ir's you want. The Ir's are about 10-20$/IR (??)

As far as impedance, some one else can chime in here, but as long as your amp is in search of 8 or 16 ohm load, (i think) it will work with the two notes or suhr rl 8ohm load boxes.... again someone else would need to chime in here. if you need a 4ohm load... :dunno: the suhr stuff is 8ohm... whist the Torpedo two notes models are available in 4, 8 and 16

ETA: The Torpedo CAB, my understanding, is really only "required" if you're gigging or going mobile...sort of a watered-down WOS, but in a pedal version.

I have the captor but it doesnt have switchable ohms so I bought 8ohms. The new Fryette PS looks interesting. I'm not sure how the WoS licensing works. Cause I basically just installed it the bought the Fortin Creamback 4x12 and was good to go. Last night I used my Ceres plugged straight into my interface with WoS and it worked great.

I keep looking at the CAB M but I dont know what the benefit of it would be since I have a captor unless I was playing live.

on the two notes front only the torpedo studio has the 4/8/16 ohm taps which is about $600 out of your price range. Are you sure really need all 3 outputs? Every amp I have ever owned has had an 8ohm out in addition to 4/16 or both. edit: doh the reload does all 3 but I dont think that guy has the cab sims built in, not sure if that part matters to you.

just my .02...250$ for a 8ohm Torpedo two notes Captor, and buy a handful of IR's to go with WOS and $ for $ about as good as it gets for a home studio...from what I've heard/read anyway. potentially, for less than $350 you'd be set. Spend the extra 400-500$ you got toward another amp or guitar

Good comparison of the 2notes Captor v Suhr RL

So many ways you can go as already mentioned above. With the Boss Waza tube amp expander coming out soon soon I'm guessing many will upgrade so there will be quite a few load boxes up for sale soon enough. But if you really do need 4/8/16 maybe just save up for the Waza?

I've been using the Suhr boxes for a few years now and I think they offer the best dynamic sounding reactive load but it will sound a bit thin sounding compared to the Two Notes captor in my opinion. Not a big deal just adjust your amp. The two notes captor seems to have a bit more bottom end than the Suhr. Best of luck!

The 4 ohm is for my vintage fenders. That's why I want that.

I am thinking I will go with the 8 ohm suhr reactive load. I think it does the best for the money. I also like the idea that it can load 3rd party IR'a if I decide to. I will be finding a used one.

nice...keep this thread updated with what ya think... im curious about the Scarlett pre's with this scenario.

I will. I just bought another mij Jackson so it might be delayed a few weeks.

I called suhr and asked some questions. The reactive load IR is the route I will be going. It's 8 ohm, but is safe on 4 ohms, so that is a good thing. I got some good explanations and the guy on the phone was patient and knowledgeable.

So whenever the funds come I will be going the suhr reactive load IR route. I also like that I can use a reamp box with it (which I have already) and I can play through headphones without the need of the computer.
