my amp is a good bit noisier on the hbe than on the be its not horrible but I want to get rid of the excess noise . I was wondering what is a good noise gate . I never had a noise gate I assume I run it in the loop after all my effects.
Thanks

Shouldn't be any noise.

My Marsha started making some noise a few days back. Not sure if it was one of the ARS power tubes or the ARS in V1 or the Tung Sol in V2. Replaced the power tubes with a new quad of Svetlana's and V1/V2 with Mullard's. Its quiet again.

If you need a noise gate though, it is tough to beat the MXR.

Check your cables! I have had more trouble with what I thought were good cables that were causing hum and noise in higher gain heads.

I found an interesting source of noise when playing guitar the other day. I bought some new energy-saving bulbs the other day and didn't realize I bought the type that you cannot use with dimmer switches. I bought some of the dimmer-capable ones and the noise coming thru my amp went away completely.

Tell me about. When I had the garage finished and converted to my man cave, I had recessed lighting installed and on a dimmer switch. There are about 18 I think. Well that played hell with my amps and if it is one thing that pisses me off is hum and ground loop noise. Had to get the electrician back and fix that shit. I still get a little from time to time with the light dimmed way down to the pure sex mode.
