I read somewhere that you need take the neck off of the guitar to adjust the truss rod on these? Is this true

Yes, an example would be the new charvel san dimas models.

I just bought a new ESP custom shop Michael wilton strat and I cant find the truss rod adjustment thingy???

I don't know the guitar, but does it have a pickguard on it.

If it does not have a trussrod cover chances are it is at the other end. And if you can't see it on the body end you will have to take the neck off to adjust it.

Time to yank the neck Giles.

No, it time to return my new guitar... I live in SOUTH FLORIDA, the humidity capitol of the U.S.!

I'm not owning a $2800 ESP that needs the neck yanked for a simple adjustment...!

If it's humid all the time, the wood should stay fairly stable. It's when it goes from very dry to very humid that causes the most issues.

Once I have a guitar set, I rarely have to make another truss adjustment. Once on year on the more troublesome necks...
