whats everyone gonna buy with their $2k tariff check??

K.....Rage on, then.

:ROFLMAO: You seem to thing everyone is angry like you.

Here's a wake up call: The rest of the world isn't angry about any of this. Why would we be? We're just sitting back and laughing. Mostly at how you all fawn over your pedo-in-chief who has the IQ of a twig and couldn't string together a coherent sentence if his life depended on it. He's an absolute laughing stock. I suspect most of you know this. You can't admit it, because admitting it makes it real, but you know.

Here's how the scary tariffs have affected my company. We manufacture specialized machine parts. Roughly 60% of our product goes to the US. We were a little worried when the tariffs were first announced, and started looking into developing new customers in Europe and Asia. We've acquired another 35% in sales from Europe alone, and haven't lost any contracts from our US customers yet. They are paying an extra 25% I think it is currently for our product. Let me assure you, we aren't paying any of it.

That's a whole lot of words form someone who isn't angry and doesn't "give a shit"

Not sure why you think I'm angry. Deflection, I suppose :dunno:

Yup. Trump's got him spinning, jumping and dancing.

Trump personally I have no particular love for. But his ability to do this to exactly the right people, just by existing, makes him invaluable :D The man may be just another NY/Florida real estate guy, but his effect on the world is beautiful.

The whole point of tariffs is to support US labor and manufacturing. Same as the ones other countries impose on us. And so we quit supporting child and slave labor from countries like China. But go ahead and get behind that if you must. I remember being able to choose between quality US made items and they were much more expensive and much better made. Also lasted forever so it was buy once cry once. Now we buy disposable shit for almost same price as US made stuff which is also bad for the environment. But I guess us conservatives just don't understand how the world works eh? And I was a die hard lefty for many years until I woke up to the lies and only works in utopia ideas of the left.

Pretty telling isn't it?

I find it amusing how many of the most anti-Trump posters here hide where they are located. They don’t live here yet they have such strong opinions on US politics that they feel the need to express them on a musicians forum.

Then assure us that ‘they don’t care’ 🤣

What is telling is how stupid Americans react with insults and derision when faced with truth about how embarrassing their leader is in the eyes of the rest of the world. I am in Geneva right now and people here feel the same way. I feel shame when I have to tell people where I am from.

There's another part to this that people don't realize. Tariffs are the way to make imported goods more expensive than US products to force US companies from outsourcing overseas.

I don't remember the details off hand. I want to say this was with Henry Ford back in the early 1900's. Basically Ford? wanted to reinvest profits back into the company instead of paying shareholders. This was challenged and brought up to the supreme court. The courts ruled that a publicly traded company's first responsibility is to the shareholders; meaning profits and stock payouts come before all else. This hindered a company's ability to reinvest in itself and by extension put cost cutting measures to increase profits at the forefront. Essentially a company is forced by law to look for cheaper production/labor costs to maximize profits for shareholders. That meant over time production moved out of the US where it was cheaper. The tariffs can help mitigate this effect to push US based companies back to the US by making domestic production more cost effective/profitable; thereby, following the law to put shareholder profits first.

I'm not going to pretend I understand every little aspect of it. I at least have a grasp of the logic behind everything beyond orange man bad or thinking Trump is Jesus. A handful of people around here get it, but not everyone does.

It's not a perfect plan and there's going to be some pitfalls. Right now tough it's the best we have going and so far it's working. Not every exporter/importer is eating the tariff cost, but a good number are. Definitely has the potential to bolster the US economy in the long run. This 2K tariff refund isn't exactly a bright idea, but at least he's thinking outside of the same old tired shit. If you don't have TDS you already know Trump throws some random ideas out there to see public feedback.

I can't believe I'm about to say this.... Imagine how much could be accomplished if all Democrats could be more like John Fetterman. He may not agree on all the details, but at least he's willing to talk things out and work with Republicans/Trump instead of fighting every step of the way over nonsense.

TDS...There's one now ☝️:hys:

My thoughts as well except for Fetterman. No trust in a leopard that changes it's spots. I will say that I never read where Trump said the 2K was going to be a check. He just said dividend AFAIK

He is not "our leader" he is our president.

We in countries that are not communist yet, understand this difference.

ive tried educating myself on tariffs talking to a few of my financial buddies and listening to a bunch of "experts" on both sides of the isle politically try and break it all down, and all i know is ive never seen a topic where everyone has such differing opinions on whats going on, and anyone with a different view is a lying fuck :dunno:

For those who are against the tariffs, please explain a better way to get other countries to build here when their currencies are weaker than ours?

And if you don't understand how it is cheaper to build products with a weaker currency, please go educate yourself before giving an opinion.

The difference is we don’t ever think about you at all 🤷‍♂️

They don't want things built here. They're very invested in having that job in Shenzen or Jakarta or Mumbai - really anywhere but the US. Can't have people be dependent on the welfare rolls if they have a good manufacturing job.
