Absolutely Chris, and I apologize for getting on your case more then needed to be.
As for the why/wherefor I think it's the economic gloom the news keep hammering us with. I think we're all a bit stressed out. I see both sides, my wife was laid off due to the media caused WAMU FDIC seizure, yet, last week I wrote 200% of what I have to write at THD. Coupled with a VERY dividing election I do think we all are just rearing to go...which is indeed stupid.

I agree about the whole economy wearing people down, I have been very active writing my Congressmen and House twits and also battling the Board of Ed in my town about spending. fiscal independance is a very good thing and threatened it could cause one to be short.

Chris, I hear what you're saying about folks being on edge. 
I even find myself being short with strangers and wondering what the hell has gotten into me.
I think it was the looooooooooooong election cycle this time around + economy + holidays coming up. It's just a bad mix all around.

i think it's quite possibly a combination of all of the above. stress tends to make people defensive.. imho.

I will tell you what is stressing me out (I haven't been shooting off on the forums though)
1. Economy. I can't sell the gear I want in most cases unless I want to take a huge loss. Its even harder to find gigs now.
2. Job. Now when my Job stresses me out I have less options to go find another and if I do I probably can't sell my house, so I feel a bit trapped. I also have to use my vacation before the end of the year, yet have a ton of work to do.
3. Holiday's. Lots of presents to buy and stuff to do.
4. Weather. We got lots of snow early this year, so far it looks like its going to be a crappy winter. I do notice in general in the spring when the sun shines again, I start getting in a better mood.
5. With the holiday's my band has been less able to practice. My bass player plows snow, so he gets busy when it snows, see #4.
I am sure other people have similar stuff stressing them out.....

The economy and status of my family and their job security has aggravated me to a point where I'm short with people. It's a shitty time and I think most people would care less about how people on forums feel.
Only thing I feel weird about is the posts on the elections and the hostilities it brought out, hope there's no hard feelings there between any of us. Except for Carl, I couldn't give a shit how he feels.

I think it's a combination of a lot of things....seasonal changes, economy, politics, insecurity, holidays, job, overlypassionate behavior, depression, personal/family issues...could also be a lack of inspiration/hope in the air. I know I've been VERY moody in the last month or so and I just turned 42 today, so that doesnt make me feel any better! But what are our choices? For me, I always resort to either picking up my guitar and plucking away or taking a drive and slapping on a good piece of music that moves me. We get too caught up into the drama, when we should turn turn off the cell phone and get back in touch with the soul.

I know times are tough right now for everyone, but we are all brothers in the fraternity known as guitar. We all go through the same struggles with family, money, gear. This should bring us together and not drive us apart. When I see people making fun of each other about their families, money situation, ect...it does make me sad.
People find it easy to rip on each other on the internet, but when they are face to face, it's a lot different.
That's why I wish there was one huge Ampfest, that everyone could attend. I think some people who "hate" each other online might find more similarities than differences!
Oh and as long as we are saying what we are sorry for..I am sorry to Daver101 for not returning his distortion pedal. I used it twice and forgot I had it and now I feel bad. Maybe I owe him some quizno's.
