What's going on lately?

I know times are tough right now for everyone, but we are all brothers in the fraternity known as guitar. We all go through the same struggles with family, money, gear. This should bring us together and not drive us apart. When I see people making fun of each other about their families, money situation, ect...it does make me sad.

People find it easy to rip on each other on the internet, but when they are face to face, it's a lot different.

That's why I wish there was one huge Ampfest, that everyone could attend. I think some people who "hate" each other online might find more similarities than differences!

Oh and as long as we are saying what we are sorry for..I am sorry to Daver101 for not returning his distortion pedal. I used it twice and forgot I had it and now I feel bad. Maybe I owe him some quizno's.

Brian, it's all good. Don't be such a stranger though! You disappeared off the face of the earth!!!

But I'll still take the Quizno's.......

I think it's a combination of a lot of things....seasonal changes, economy, politics, insecurity, holidays, job, overlypassionate behavior, depression, personal/family issues...could also be a lack of inspiration/hope in the air. I know I've been VERY moody in the last month or so and I just turned 42 today, so that doesnt make me feel any better! But what are our choices? For me, I always resort to either picking up my guitar and plucking away or taking a drive and slapping on a good piece of music that moves me. We get too caught up into the drama, when we should turn turn off the cell phone and get back in touch with the soul.

+1, I'm 45 now, and realize my playing { mostly becuse I dont have time to practice } is not only in a rut, I'm going backwards. Couple that with the current situation, and the other above factors listed, and it has had me more on edge too. I dont have an ax to grind like some on here with each other, but I can totally see thier point. I just hate to see quite so much effort being put into it. I probably said more than I should have in the political threads before the election. Thank God thats over! I appreciate that Thump wants this to be a place where we can agree to disagree, and then LET GO. Thats really the hardest part is'int it? I dont do that very well. I'm not the only one. Strathead has the right idea

Bottom line is...it's just an internet forum. There have been some crazy posts here lately, and I think people should chill out.

In the end, I don't really give a f*ck what anyone on any board, RT or otherwise, thinks of my opinions or music, but I still post here regardless because I know there are some bright minds out there with some useful info. I've never flamed anyone, and have yet to be flamed....go figure. A good term might be "selective listening?"

I know I've got a lot of things on my mind. I'm worried about my company's survival. We cut around 100 people last week and we're relatively small at ~700. I'm know more cuts are coming. I know that my job's not really on the chopping block but if the company doesn't survive then my job won't either. I've been in super saver mode as of late as well. But I appreciate the stuff that I have so much more. I've been playing my VH4 much more these days. I've been focusing on wrapping up my band's CD. It's one of the bright spots since the songs are sounding WAY better than I expected. I should be able to post the first track within a week. The main thing that is getting me by and pushing me forward is my family. Fatherhood is an awesome thing, if not tiring. LOL.

I watched an OK movie last night with an interesting idea. It was a Guy Ritchie movie callled Revolver with Jason Statham. It's basic idea was that we have no real external enemies, only perceived ones created by the clash with our own ego. It was good food for thought for how I could consciously try to remove my ego from situations to make them less volatile and more constructive.

And it's generally nothing personal....just the cyclical nature of message boards...has happened on just about every one I've ever visited, whether I'm lurking or an active participant...there's many cycles..love fests, hate fests, periods of practically no activity at all, wash, rinse, repeat

I'm stressed out at the moment because my school's been in limbo due to a strike and being out of a job - thankfully that got taken care of last week and I'm safely in a new, equally shitty student job

I apologize to Kage, ejecta, stratotone, Bob, and anyone else I may have offended or annoyed. I want everybody to know that anytime I make a post whether it be wildly off topic or whatever, it's not meant to hurt, offend or get at anyone and most of the time it's just to hear other opinions even if they differ from my own.

I don't have much going on in the way of gear (heck I even switched instruments this year) but I do appreciate everyone's opinion and insight into everything whether it be guitar tone or whatever bullshit is going on in the world.
