My practice spot is my garage workbench. I have a computer with Reaper, EZ Drummer, cheap monitors, and a NI KA6 USB interface 2-in / 4-out. With 4 outs you can use a reamp box without unplugging your speakers.
I just finished a little wet/dry practice combo rig. I run through the computer like a pedal board. I capture the DI and add Tube screamer, EQ, compression, and gate on the way out. The dry amp is an old Fender Champ that I rebuilt into a 1 watt Marshall. The stock 8" speaker kind of sucks so I usually plug it into a DIY 1x12 cab. I can usually get feedback at surprisingly low volumes.
The wet amp is also an old Champ. It has the 1st tube like a plexi then a typical 5w single ended power amp. It is fed from a Suhr RL and a POD X3 bean for delay/verb. I have the little foot controller for it. The 8" is ok for the wet side.
