What's the best high powered greenback for metal?

For sure, DON'T get any G12-65 that has a '444' cone. Those are horribly dull and unsuited for guitar tones.

There are a bunch of greenback type speakers that sound good but IMO there would be better choices for low volume. Greenbacks sound awesome once they get some power pumping through them. At low volume they have a fizzy hollow tone. Even V30s sound better to me at low volume or something more neutral

Greenbacks sound great at low volumes with every amp I've ever tried. V30s typically sound fizzy to me until you crank them. So... I guess we're just on completely opposite sides of this one haha.

Yeah I dunno...I had that same Framus cab too and A Spalwn 4x12 with greenbacks. I love celestions but I think in general they come alove with volume that goes for greenbacks and v30s, I thought v30s did a little better at low volume but to be honest most of the time I play through a Lepou amp sim in my DAW and out of my Yamahha monitors , I get a great low volume tone that way.

When I play my real amps I do it when I can crank them without waking up the neighbors. Tube amps with celestion speakers beg to be turned up ! :)

G12h30(55hz) cone. Deep bass punch

Agreed!... especially if you can find the mid to late 70's Blackback variant. I'm sure psychodave has some of those speakers laying around. ;)

I just got one of those for my Archon 25. I haven't had much of a chance to crank it yet, but so far so good. Awesome at low volume. Once family leave from Christmas I'll have a good chance to get to know it, and compare it to an EVH greenback
