Yes, just a chord! For me, it's the opening G chord to Sad But True. What's yours?

Opening chord "Hard Days Night" Beatles. Pretty much says it, and did not require distortion.

Another favorite is the opening chord(s) on "Highway Star" on Made in Japan. Really f'ing heavy with those over the top Marshall Majors and volume.

Hard to argue Sad But True.

When the wife and I saw them in Phillips Arena, they hit that chord and the crowd erupted. Clearly the song everyone e sang and screamed the loudest.

But I am partial to Metallica...

I think the ending to Thomas is the heaviest part of that album. It's pretty rockin'.

Check out from 2:30.

So many things run thru my head on this.....
but this song to me has the meanest opening Chord.....still sends shivers up my spine when cranked.

Lots and lots of huge sounding albums but as far as a monster chord, it's tough to beat when Petrucci hits a huge power chord and adds the fifth underneath. Just monstrous sounding and sonically covers a huge spectrum. His Pups and amps make those chords growl like crazy too.

Good example would be As I Am.

"WAHTCHYOOO TALKIN' BOUT FOOL!!!"

Puh thats a heavy decision.
I really like playing these monster chords like playing a D Chord with the A if you know what i mean.

What really gets me going is the opening for Metallica My friend of misery ( the first guitar chord A with the f on the d string)

Great thread.

The chord Eddie plays in Sinner's Swing after the solo when Dave is singing "Soon you'll see my silouette darkening your door..." My fav chord ever!
