I have an American Strat with 3 Suhr FL pickups (middle is not RWRP) and am looking at getting the backplate.

Since the backplates have been out for a while, I figure some folks probably have them. Do you guys recommend them or not.

When I play at church, they have a line 6 spider and the hum is bad. For some reason even my Les Paul with Suhr Aldrich pickups hums pretty good. This weekend I had to use my fat strat and keep it on the bridge Anderson H2+ to keep the noise down. I am not sure what is going on with that setup.

seams expensive to try to get your SC's quieter. Unless you really really like your SC's, I would just get new pickups, noiseless.

Too much money for a couple of wires. Use an ISP Decimator or try the DiMarzio area pickups.

Totally dissagree. The backplate works great and kills about 80% of the noise and doesn't
effect your pickups tone or feel. You can use it with whatever pickups you want as long
as the middle is NON Reverse wound. Blows any gate or Deci outta the water.
All my Starts have'em.

I tried the backplate for a few weeks. I thought it was a waste of money. Just my opinion.

The ISP decimator may be the way to go, They are only $140 or so new. Do you notice a tonal change with the ISP decimator?

They work great, cost a bit, but all in all, they work and they're factory direct. So if you've already got the coin blown on a top-drawer Suhr guitar, suck it up and throw the silent pup option in. It's only money. Secondly, if you don't want to do that, get your guitar as is, try it out, see what you think, and if it's buggin' ya, THEN get the backplate option - done.

I don't have one on mine, and I don't care. It's not that noisy... I've demo'd this option, have 1st hand knowledge of its operability and viability, but haven't found myself yearning for it.

I agree. Pricey but does a very good job. I'd take those over a gate any day.

I was fine with mine (guitar is Fender American strat with Suhr FL pickups), but recently at church, I have been having a lot of noise issues. I had to stand a certain way and hold the strings or the hum was really bad. I think it has to do with what is on that circuit, but I don't really have the authority to change it.

Sounds like I don't need the backplate yet and maybe a noise gate would help me more at this point. I can get a used decimator for about $100, if that doesn't work for me, than I will get the suhr backplate. The Decimator will help the other guitarist as well.

Thanks for all the opinions guys.

I'm going to sound like a broken record but Kinman pickups have beautiful tone and noiseless

I got the ISP decimator Gstring. Not digging it, its going to be going up for sale soon.

So I am back with either the back plate, getting a RWRP middle so I get positions 2 and 4 as quiet, or getting some new pickups. I really like the Suhr FL pickups, so I am thinking of going with the backplate.

You guys play with too much gain and just not refined enough for single coils.

Digging up an old thread, just got the Ilitch backplate. They were making them for Suhr. I also got a Push-pull pot to turn it on and off. The RWRP was okay, but it changed the tone in positions 2 and 4 and I didn't like the change.
