I am not trying to be too negative :D , but if I want to toast some bread I'll buy Hamilton Beach....not Suhr, Bogner, etc?

I just don't get the design...that is all, Whether they sound killer or not

Well....there are many bedroom rockstars in this world like myself...space is limited due to family...lower wattage usually in these amps...better price points on some of the toasters...i kinda like the idea but also understand they aren't for everyone....but i think there are many more bedroom rockstar toaster lovers in the world that don't participate on these forums also....i understand where you are coming from though...but ...i like toasters that make toast and toasters that rock lol

It's a tool to generate tone. I don't think my Snap On socket wrench is particularly attractive, but it does its job well. I care what my guitar looks like. My amp, my pedals, my cord, my pick, not so much.

ok so sell your Splawn, Marshall and whatever ellse you have pictured on your CD

I gotcha...Like I said...not trying to be negative, I just don't like the looks. I am superficial when It comes to gear I guess...looks do play a roll in my purchasing for the most part. Funny how I wouldn't consider buying a TC Hall of Fame, but the black Trinity from proguitarshop I would buy. Technically the same pedal just different paint and a couple different presets.

I didn't buy any of them for their looks. ;)

I hear you. Looks play a role in designing a product and helping people to decide whether they want to buy it or not. I think some amps look better than others but I would buy any of them, even some ugly looking thing if it sounded great.

i just had to go look up that trinity pedal....just had to....now i want it....i feel you are responsible for at least half of the cost of this pedal due to the amount of gas you have caused. :D

Some of us like multi-use devices, although I'm holding out for the waffle irons next year.

See...

Billy Blades really is a market leader.

He has the cup holder now. I bet there is some hidden functionality to be revealed in the lightning bolts. Maybe a microwave? Hair dryer?

Or the cup holder is really an Aqua Net holder.... It all makes perfect sense now.....

For the Battlestar Galactica fan. :D

It's not a looks thing with me. I could care less about what something looks like if it sounds good. I've never found a toaster that had a tone I liked.

They saw profits marketing to the I can't play loud crowd.

My theory is that the trend is related to the aging 80's shredders. Their backs can't handle it anymore

People finally took a class and figured out that a 50-watt amp is NOT half as loud as a 100-watt amp, etc., etc., and that you can get great tone and volume in a smaller, more space, weight, and power-efficient form factor. Like Chub said, if you could get ACTUAL Plexi, Boogie, EVH, Diezel, Splawn, Friedman, etc. Tone and volume from something that clipped onto your belt and ran off a 9V battery would you use that, or lug around the 65-85 lb. head?

Boutique snot watts in Europe have been selling more than any other type of amp. We're slow to catch on here in North America, but the facts are simple - smaller rated output means one can get the amp sizzling without worrying about SPL constraints. It's simply not easy to get a 100W head to push at all times - it's too loud. I think the 5W, 15W, 22W market is an awesome place to look for great recording amps (Marshall 1W is one of their best sellers, along with their Class5). Most of the very best players have recorded their talents with smaller amps - Vox AC30, Fender Bassman, Two Rock 22, and lesser known shitboxes.

It's not often I get to turn my MVs past 1 o'clock, so I get it. And hey, manufacturers need to make products that people buy so that they can stay in business. If this small amp market buys these micro monsters, good for everyone.

The problem I've noticed with many who've posted clips over time with small wattage amps is getting a big & yet tight tone from them for heavier music. They seem great for other types of music, though.

I'd lug around the big stuff because I need the exercise.
