And why do people with no serious right hand chops for chunk insist on playing Master Of Puppets?

OMG! Right?! It's like watching a 16 year old trying to bang a hooker...awkwardness and bad timing.

I had a JVM and didn't dig it. The 2203kk and Langner 800 smoked it. I am sure it's a good amp,but for me it was only meh. IMO it does a bunch of stuff good, but nothing amaze-balls. I would imagine if you need all those channel available at any time,it would be the Marshall to get. And IMO it is selling used for what I would guess almost any mass produced modern Marshall tube amp should sell for.

Have you seen this video? The JVM sounds freaking amazing.

Some of those cleans like the Timmons tune he plays sounded horrible. And most of the distorted stuff like the Master Of Puppets and Megadeath riff pretty terrible, IMHO. The crunch tones he got were pretty good though like the Hells Bells riff.

Agree and during rests there was a lot of noise. I would hope it can sound better than that.

I play MoP to try and improve my rh chops. :aww: I also play it because it's a good benchmark for how tight and chunky an amp is (when palm-muted right). But I don't punish others with it.

The funny thing is the crunch to me sounds good there but not the high gain or cleans. Whenever I played the JVM I thought I could at least work with the high gain but thought the crunch was useless. This video is the opposite.

Some really 'OK' tones, but nothing truly memorable for me, at least.

I had a Voodoo Modded JVM for a while. It was decent. The crunch channel was a bit too flubby for me. Didn't have that bite. The OD channels were great, but way over compressed sounding IMO.

I'd have no problem using one again, but I'd probably like to check out the Satch version

Yeah, that's what I meant were the crunch tones like AC/DC and Motorhead. The video sounds better if you turn up your speakers, but agreed even though the JVM isn't known for clean tone, the cleans could have sounded better.

Man...I just cranked this amp for a bit and it was awesome. Ears are feeling the pressure now, too. ...along with the Wife's stare. Wow...it was blisteringly loud for a few minutes.

Having been playing through Amplitube and no more than 50 watt amp with 1x12's recently; I'm honestly shocked at the power of 100 watts and a 4x12. How could I forget?!?

Too funny on the MoP comments, however, accurate IMO.

Most of the times it's the player, not the amp.

I agree in general about the negative or meh comments but I was demoing an EVH cab and was using a 210H to a/b it vs. a marshall 1960A. Holy cow what a difference the cab made. I almost bought the JVM as well, as it was a stupidly low price (used) and sounded incredible through the EVH. The top end got a lot sweeter and the kerang was there in spades on medium gain/hard rock tones. It was the only time a JVM made me go wow and I've played them a lot.

Just had to comment on this ...the jvm is a good amp, only thing with the one I had was it just wasn't really loud enough..now I had the 50 watt...but with a heavy handed drummer, like mine it just didn't deliver...but it does have some good,if not great, tones.

Oh before I forget...THIS IS A GREAT FORUM! A long time lurker here, good info from all.
Thanks

The loop is fussy but I have been using my Fortin modded 210 and using FX8 to switch it with midi. I need a versatile setup right now so it is my main player at the moment. If you can get along with the loop it has lots of usable tones.

As someone said...nothing new. You see many amps go like that...SigX is another good example of a used amp selling for nearly half it's value and those are fantastic amps. In fact it's my favorite VHT/Fryette and one of my favorite all around amps period. I see them at $1100 or $1200 and those are steals IMO.
I know, right? SigX's are totally underappreciated by the masses.

Having played the JVM myself and also played for years in my band with another guitarist who went from a Line 6 HD147 to a JVM, then some other Line6/Bogner head, then the Satriani JVM and some JCM900-SLX somewhere in between, I can attest that in my opinion, the Sig:X is leagues above the JVM for an allround platform (and build quality).
There are a few really good sounds to be had in the JVM and its cleans are definitely one of the nicer ones in the Marshall range, but they can't touch Mesa Mark cleans or Engl Invader cleans. OD1/2 orange and red were way too noisy and uncontrollable high-gain IMO.

See I loved the SigX...in fact it was a part of my last amp flippin phase. And funny enough it came down to the JVM and the SigX...I owned both at the time. For two weeks I went back in forth by myself and more importantly in rehearsals, I got a great feel for both and ultimately went with the JVM. The other guitarist was rocking a DSL, the blend was perfect. Overall build quality would go to the SigX hands down but "to me" the JVM hit everything I wanted out of a Marshall. Sold the SigX and bought another JVM for backup... at that time...around 08 'ish, 2 years and 160+ shows later, rehearsals, studio they never let me down. And even now, even though my band days are long gone, I just don't care to get another amp. If I did it would be a SigX.

Again, only my experience but I never had noise issue's...with either of the JVM's I owned. The loop was fantastic and I loved the cleans...even used the amp with a Tele for some countryish type sessions. My only caveat for the JVM would be using it with 75's or V30's. My favorite old cab was loaded with GB's and the amp kinda got lost with them. I had always hated 75's but tried a cab with them and it just clicked...so I loaded my cabs with 75's and my Bog 2x12 has V30's. No mods on the amp, total stock...only thing I would do is put in C9 12AX7's and Ruby EL34BSTR's. Even put 77's in one for even more punch.

Hi guys. I'm new on here. Pretty much browsing til now. I've had a used JVM410h for about 6 months now and while at first it was a little bit of a struggle to dial it in I have now found many great tones I can squeeze out of this bad boy. Here is a vid of me Messing around with it. I usually use a 1960a Marshall 4x12 but for this I used an open back 2x12 blackstar.
