Mine is this 1990 Peavy S-1 that i picked up at a Pawn shop for $150 in the case with all the paperwork.
Was nasty and the solid milled brass bridge was green as were the frets + the factory actives were dead (Had a wire pulled off the battery connector). Got the electronics up and running + it all cleaned up and set up and found it's just an absolute MONSTER player guitar!!! Pickups were the biggest surprise as they are dead silent even in situations where there is a lot of stray RF and just sound amazing. This thing sustains for EVER sounds amazing and plays like an absolute dream it's one of the most unexpected true sleeper guitars I have ever picked up.

In action live through my unmiced Zinky Blue Velvet 25 watt combo. The stage wiring here is SO bad a normal passive guitar like my PRS Custom 24 buzzes so badly through a super high gain rig like the Zinky it's almost unusable but here with the old Peavy the rig is almost dead silent. That's why I almost always bring this old dog on a gig as it's so quiet where other guitars would buzz like crazy it's simply amazing!
What's your cheap sleeper guitar?
