What's your favorite method for sanding down the back of a finished neck?

I'm sitting here trying to do this fancy trickery of holding the guitar up and leaning back to play the Alone solo by Heart and dammit if this factory finish on the back isn't making my hand stick a little here and there and slowing me down and making it harder to land where I need to. What's your favorite method for sanding that down just a smidge and getting some of the sticky glossness off without sanding through to the bare wood?

I love a high gloss finish on my necks. Therefore the only way I sand them down is using my palms, which can get quite hairy if I don't tend to them with a razor during my bath time.

1000 grit foam backed sand paper.

Will last a while and from playing a lot will get glossier again.

I do this on my LP and works great.

I use a green Scotch-Brite pad at the moment but only because my white one is shot. Would go back to the white if I took the time to find them.

I use 0000 steel wool on my Gibson’s. Very light touch is all it takes.
